Still outside the jurisdiction. I cant see that you are entitled to Income Support for that period. IB yes.

Im not trying to commit benefit fraud at all, im an honest person, that is why im trying to find out all these things in advance and stick to the rules for the benefit allowance. You are making it personal by saying that someone close to me would inform the DWP, you are suggesting benefit fraud.

If the DWP says to me you cant claim them cos your going over regulary then i shall give them up, i have no intention of de frauding the system at all.

Her normal residence would not be in Ireland in these circumstances and she would not be classed as living together as man and wife. The man who spends 5 days a week away working may spend less time at his home than away working but it is still his normal residence. It's not about the number of days one is at home.
  • Its not set in stone how much ill be going over there, it may not be every month even, like ive previously said im still tryin to find out all the info cos the last thing i wana do is get in trouble!

I believe the rule goes like this (but do check):

If your stay abroad is temporary, you may be able to get Income Support for the first 4 weeks you are abroad. You can only do this if you are unlikely to be abroad for more than 52 weeks, would still qualify for Income Support if you had stayed in the United Kingdom, and one of the following applies to you:

    * you are incapable of work because of sickness or disability and you have gone abroad only for treatment for that sickness or disability
    * you have been incapable of work for 364 days when you go abroad, you get a pensioner premium or disability premium for a partner who is going abroad with you.

Drogheda is in Southern Ireland :D

Drogheda is in Ireland. Southern Ireland is a phrase used by the non Irish, and tends to really wind up the locals! ;)

Have to disagree with you there DMG, (I'm qualified to and I'll leave it there!).

Ireland is not part of the UK. How regularly are you planning to visit?

Actually, Northern Ireland is part of the UK. Southern Ireland is not. Your statements could cause confusion. They may be innocently made but they could also cause some offence to the 'locals', Northern or Southern - can be a touchy subject Ireland, to the Irish. By the way, I am neither stalking you, nor holding any 'grudge' DMG (especially now that I can see you're a cat lover - lovely kitten!). The title of the thread caught my eye and I just had to clarify this.
