I would expect no damage, so push them hard on this.

If it was expected, they should of informed you before fitting it, not after.

    Push them all the way...
  • Subject to whatever disclaimers they have about causing damage (and I agree lino is very very easy to damage with heavy kitchen appliances.

Your real problem is that even if you manage to persuade them to claim, what is the value of your lino? It was already damaged therefore the value of it is probably zero or close to it.

Irritating though it is, I'd probably just deal with it. And to deal with your question about whether they get in trouble, yes, I imagine they will do.

Too late to solve the original problem but here's a little tip for you. It's pretty hard to lift an appliance into a space under a worktop so you inevitably end up pushing it. With a tumble dryer its not so bad as they weigh virtually nothing, but washing machines (especially the better ones) have a big block of concrete in them to balance the spin. With the best will in the world these are going to dig in when you try to push it. Lino is bad enough, but I've just had to put one into a mates new house that has that Flotex "carpet" type stuff on the floor - never mind not ripping, it simply wouldn't shift - even with the England rugby scrum behind it!.

So the solution - work out where the feet are on the appliance, and run a couple of strips of tape (preferably duck tape or something similar, but today I had to make do with bog standard sellotape) down each side of the space to make a strip wide enough for the feet to slide down on. Then stick some fairy liquid on the front of the tape. As long as you can get the back feet onto the "greased" tape the whole thing will slide in nicely like a good un. If you get it right the tape won't show when you've finished but if it does you can easily cut it back.

Hi well as some of you will know i have spent the last 5 months fighting currys (same co asd comet) over our fridge freezer due to various things..hopeless although we have come out with a very good result i think the floor is a long shot and will stress you out a great deal. When dh took our old fridge out with his friend they dropped it and ripped part of ours..although im cross we are not keen on it and are looking at getting it replaced so have not worried, same with as if currys/comet had done it i could just not be bottered tbh..although depneds on how bad. I can see how you would be annoyed though as much prefer people to tell me rather than hide things!

    Yes Gabyjane,

It is more of a complaint about the poor after service now. I'm not an ogre I know accidents happen as I make plenty myself. But customer care should be better than this.

Comet delivered a fridge freezer to our old house, didn't put the wheels down and scratched up the laminate floor across the hall. Eventually they admitted liability and paid for a new floor.
