What I find staggering is that the tax rebate you get for washing your own uniform at home is £8.00 a year if you earn under 40k, and £55pa is you earn OVER 40k.

So those who earn more and therefore are more likely to be able to afford the routine washing of uniforms get more rebate whereas the poorer get less.
    Go figure
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

    Income tax.

I try not to look too often, for the amount I pay this Govt each month is truly depressing.

The worst has to be working tax-credits. Must be the biggest dis-incentive to better yourself ever devised. Not only do you lose working tax credits for every extra £1 you earn, you also have to pay more tax and NIC, making a marginal tax rate of something like 75%. Absolute insanity - and guess who introduced it and who made the rules - that's right the same plonker who abolished the 10% rate and tax relief for pension dividends - good old GB!

    5. Council Tax, how did this get so out of control?? mines gone up from £450 to £2100 a year since labore got in !!!! How do low income familys afford to pay this sledgehammer tax?

    4. Inheritance Tax, the money was earnt and taxed levied on it, why do they get to Tax it again ...

    3. Road Fund Tax, meant to be used to maintain the road infrastructure, 80% of it gets nicked, roads are in dire state in London ...

    2. Petrol Tax, just outrageous to be paying what 70% tax ...

    1. Speed Camera Tax, a tax based on a lie enforced by mindless sheep unable to think for themselves.

I was a child at the time but my mother loved the poll tax. I can't stand council tax as it's overcharged and so many people are exempt that it's a mess. How can they justify having to pay £1000 plus in some areas?
I am glad that the BBC exist but it's cheeky being able to jail people for not paying the fee yet they are allowed to have a commercial arm....what on earth?
Tax credits are a joke too as you can claim them even though you earn above average , what about people without kids who don't earn much? Seems unfair to me

If you don't have kids in this country, you are a non-person. I can see why so many have so many kids! You can get and claim so much, childless couples or singles (the one's who usually pay the most into the tax system) get nothing!
Then they wonder why there are so many teenage pregnancies in the UK...

    That is staggaring.

The only thing I can think is that, lower wage earners uniforms are more likely to be machine washable versus dry clean suit style uniforms and ties? (thus the higher rate tax earner in a suit might pay more anyway ultimately?) Bit random though....
