thank you angela, will keep you all updated, even my girlfriend and my mum has the same opinion as me, my mum also said it was more firm in the shop because she was there when i bought it0 -
I don't know whether DFS stuff has deteriorated lately or what, as they get much criticism here.
10 + years ago I purchased three eight foot sofas, with cream fitted but removable and washable covers. At first, I washed on gentle and put on line to dry.
Over the years, they have been bunged in the washer and then the dryer.
I swear they look as good today as brand new.
The other purchase was for the family room. A tan hide 3 seater, two seater, chair and large footstool.
Not coated leather, but natural leather as in handbags, with the occasional mark from the beast against barbed wire.
Hadn't had it five minutes when I dropped a plate of salad with dressing all over it. I was mortified and rang DFS. They assured me the dressing would be absorbed, and to my relief it was without a trace.
One side of the chair has lightened due to the fierce South facing sun through a patio door. Other than that for seven years it too has been great.
It's a shame that they have had such bad reviews here, as although I have been very happy, I would be wary of purchasing again due to the experiences of others.
As I say, maybe they are past their best, but for me a Godsend as young child and dog shared too.0 -
as i said i was going to do i am updating after the upholsterer left
he left about 20 minutes ago, he tipped sofa on the sofas back so he could get underneath the sofa, he got some large parts of firm foam and filled all the bottom of the cushions with that and added a second layer along the middle of the bottom of the cushion, for some kind of better support
so i think the sofa now feels like it did in dfs a while back, so it is all good0 -
It was obviously faulty so they should of either sent you a new one or at least a discount, glad it is sorted though.
I bought 2 3 seaters 4 years ago (over 1k and regret it) they were gorgeous instore and looked fab after being in the showroom and tested on BUT when i got them i noticed that after a month they looked months oldDebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

It's not a case of money, just better research. I was merely pointing out (as this is a money saving website). That a bit of research prior to making an expensive purchase would have brought up thread after thread of people having problems with shoddy DFS sofas, or just try googling 'DFS shoddy' and see how many hits you get. This simple research would enable you to make an informed choice about whether or not to purchase from a store with a poor reputation for workmanship.

My parents had a problem with a leather sofa sagging in one seat from SCS. They send out an upholsterer who said there was nothing wrong but their obviously was. They ended up going through M and S credit card to get a refund as SCS would not budge. Would defintely steer clear of SCS.FreePremiershipOnline.com - your guide to free streaming football0

an update 2 months later
so 2 months ago an upholsterer come out and put some thin blue foam in the sofa, but after a while they started going again
so to keep it short, another upholsterer come out today, he come with 2 completely new green foam blocks, but to be on the safe side we asked him to do 1 of the 2 cushions only
so he put the new foam block in 1 of the sides and added the thin blue foam back too, for the support, but it is still as bad, just in a different way, so at the moment i am sitting on the side that did not get touched today, i think i should have just left both sides as they were as nothing got made better
but some things i am not happy about are, i asked upholsterer to see if he could tighten the elastic threads that are under the foam blocks but he kept saying they are good, and plus i just noticed, i do not think he has stretched, pulled the leather back much when putting it back together, as the side with the new foam, the leather has more play in it, i can pinch it and pull it up more than i can with the other side (the side that was not touched)
that and also 1 cushion is also higher than the other, but i kind of understand that as it is a new foam block in 1 side
is there anything i can do, me and my partner are not happy with this sofa and the finance is for another 4 years, we have only had the sofa for about 4 months, so i can not see how we are going to be able to live with this sofa for 4 years if we can just about live with it after having it for about 4 months
the thought of firmer foam blocks comes to mind many times, but could i get dfs to pay for that? i do not think so, but i could be wrong
what else could i do, i think the upholsterer was saying today if this continues to happen may have to speak to store manager, but what good is that going to do? usually most store managers do not care about anything else apart from money?
please help, me and my partner are currently not working too, so this is tough times for us, it is like living in a nightmare kind of
thank you:(0 -
bought 3x2 seaters from DFS, £2,000. i have them 3 weeks and the cushions have sagged badly. DFS say this is natural softening. i dont think so as i live alone, weight 12ST they should not sagged so badly. they are very uncomfortable to sit in/on.0
