sofa sagging after 1 day?

hi new dfs £400 sofa arrived yesterday afternoon, was sitting on it most the day, went to bed about midnight i think, kept having to get up numerous times because i am used to a fake leather firm sofa that did not sag, had that for about 5 years

woke up this morning, the other cusion (there is 2) is still a little firmer than the 1 i am sitting on right now, so i sink a little more in this cushion this morning than the other, the other was sat on about half the time this one has been sat on, i used to be able to sit on my firm one most of the day, i even use a computer from the sofa too because i have wireless keyboard and mouse, could do that fine on the other sofa

does this sound right to any of you or should i phone dfs and ask them to send a specialist round here?

well when i tested it out in the shop it was as firm as the cushion that has not been sat on much, was not as sagging as much as the one i am sitting on at the moment

at the moment it is like the sofa is caving in around me and between my legs, something like that, so legs are up quite high and my girlfriends feet just about touch the ground and if you sit to the left or right of the selected cushion you are leaning towards the middle, so kind of falling to the middle if you sit on the left or right edge of 1 of the cushions

You pay £400. Sofa's cost less than £100. Tbh, they are very cheap sofas......

It could be that the sofa is designed to be more of a squishy sofa than your old one anyway. Sofas that you sink into seem to be more fashionable now than firm ones, so they may just use a softer foam.

It may depend what kind of foam has been used inside the sofa? Did you check before you bought, as there are types of squishy foam, and harder, thick Dunlopillo ones? To be honest, I don't think you will have much of a quality product at that price and if you're not happy, you should contact the suppliers and ask them if they will either replace it or refund your money.
  • I had the same problem with a sofa ai bought last year ( not DFS ) I called and complained and was told that The sofa was designed to be sat 'in' not 'on'. Nedver heard such cr*p in all my life! They did send a replacement set of cushions but they were exactly the same. Basically stuffed with micro fibre that would be ok in a back cushion but not to sit on.
I compromised in the end and went to a foam work shop and bought new foam seat cushions cut to size. It cost around £80 but was well worth it as they are really comfy and bounce back into shape instantly.
It was worth it for me as I liked the size and shape of the sofa and it had removeable washable covers which i need....

go ahead, give me the money to go buy a more expensive sofa somewhere else? if you are not going to do that, do not bother to reply with useless post like that
  • Hope it all goes ok for you Kev

You must feel gutted after paying out all that money 'specially just before Xmas.

Don't forget to let us know what the outcome is.
