I'd just put it down to experience with the Egg card and don't let it frustrate you any further.
If he is near his available credit limit, he will probably struggle to get a decent BT card in his name.0 -

I know I should be I'm so :mad::mad::mad: with him. I really thought I was actually getting somewhere with the debts. I knew he credit card debt, but stooooopidly thought it was a lot lower.
Any to be honest even if he can't get 0% then lower rate card would help reduce the balance.
Is there a way to find out if he is near his limit? He has had his free report from experian a while back, so I guess he'd have to pay for one?
He near the limit on both his cards tho. And is forbidden to use them again, if he wants to act like a child I damm well treat him like one:rotfl:0 -
To be honest you may be better looking at MBNA for a 0% card, Virgin etc..... Tesco are one of the easiest to get accepted for.
Out of interest, have either of you tried your banks? Usually your own bank is the best place to try for a new credit card or deal...?
Yes, citi own Egg and as such Egg have got worse, that said, citi have caused me no issues to date (touching wood lol)..... but egg has gone rapidly down hill.2010 - year of the troll

It may be better for you to get credit and BT his debts onto your cards (only if you're serious together of course)..... But he will not have a 'limit' as such, each lender will assess his situation on their scoring model. The CRA's scores are useless so save your money, the only info of use from a CRA is the actual credit report.
It may be better to request a statutory report for all 3 CRA's to see exactly what they hold on him - if you say he cannot use the cards there may be derogatory markers against him meaning no lender will touch him. There may not be, but best to check.

Never in doubt
he's got a citi bank card balance zero ( well it is now) I cleared it in sept and he used it on Oct
He's also got a virgin card 29.9% and HSBC 20.9% although HSBC is on 0%
until end of Jan ( cos I dealt with it back in the summer)
We bank with HSBC so we can't ask them for a card.
Maybe tesco is the option???
Do yo think egg said no you can't have a card wasn't actually because of the 2nd card on my ac BUT cos he already has a citibank card??????? That would make sense wouldn't it???0 -

Ok, so you bank with HSBC - and have their card? Rule them out then! Do you have separate accounts (or a joint account)? If you both bank there, you can both have a CC with them.....
Tesco can be good but only on acceptance (old RBS systems)..... not saying they will deffo accept you of course..... Citi and Egg are separate entities in this respect and you can apply for both and hold both cards if you want to.Only reason they would say no is if the citi card and egg app was within 6 months of each other.

Depends on how you class serious???:rotfl: we've been together 17+ yrs and married 7+yrs plus four children.
Sorry I didn't explain properly, the only reason he can't use the cards is simply because I've nicked them:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I've got credit cards of my own already, although there are nowhere near as high as his, with lower APRs and I've been chipping away at them for a while now. Hence the reason I thought we could see the light at the end. But while I've been chipping away and not spending, he's been chipping away and then spending on the cards again. for example I sorted HSBC out fo him back in the summer. He'd missed some payments so i set up DD to stop late charges etc and also sorted out 0% for 6mths. He then went and spent on the card. But of course all payment since then have been going on the 0% and although it's only a small amount of interest he hasbeen charged interest on his purchases.
Also I can't BT to my exsisting cards as my limits aren't high enough0 -

Yes we bank with HSBC, already both hold HSBC credit cards so stuffed there too.
He's had his citi card for ??? not sure but well over a year maybe even two. Egg application was last week so definatley more than 6 mths apart.
Will look into Tesco. TBH We saw the 0% on egg and just thought that will help. I'd still like some answers from Egg, so will persue that, but will prob have to mark it down to experiance.
Thanks ever so much for you help today. given me lots to consider.0 -

Ok, well you'd be best to get your credit files (both of you) then have a read here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1033817 and see who searches who.... you should use your credit report to see which is the best 'looking' and then apply to a lender that searches that CRA... make sense lol?
Good Luck.... (you do know if you have MBNA they are happy to give you more accounts with them, just not two the same i.e. 2 x virgin cards).... you could apply to MBNA again for a 0% card?2010 - year of the troll

Nope didn't know that, I have an MBNA so could maybe apply for a virgin? And whilst he has a virgin he could apply for an MBNA???? mmmm another possible avenue that might be worth exploring.
Also as we've both used the free credit report offer, i'm guessing the cheapest way to obtain these is by post??0
