in Credit cards
Last week OH applied for an Egg card to do a BT onto. He was decline as he already had an egg card. Except he doesn't have an egg card an never has had one.
However I had one until about 2 yrs ago, when they closed it for me. He was a second card holder on my account.
When he was refused out of curiousity I looked online and I can still access my account online and even see a few of the old statements. I emailed them and asked if the reason he was told he was already acard hold was because he was a 2nd card holder on mine. And got the reply that OH must contact them to discuss his account. NO thats not what I asked  Emailed again and explained again. Egg say it's not because he is a2nd card holder. But as he's never had his own Egg account, i can't see what else it could be. Any ideas?
I also want to write to egg and ask them to remove ALL my details from their systems. Is there a suitable letter to write for this?

This sounds very similar! I've maxed out my own Egg card with my GF as a second card holder. Getting very desperate for money at the moment and need an extra card. She tried to get one in her name and they refused! Why?0

right so despite them telling me this isn't the reason they refused him it prob is???
Plus my account is NOT maxed out, it's closed and has been for almost 2 yrs.0 -
With Egg though, if you used to have an account then it may be easier for you to reapply cos you can simply click 'apply now' and then log in and they will tell you immediately if you can have an account.
They are weird, if you register once (in your life) then the system stores your data and you can only ever log-in using the old details, even if they are years old....
System flaw - they call it added security measures!
A credit card additional cardholder is not responsible for the account (or debt) and so whoever runs up a debt, only the applicant is liable and they cannot use your data in any way because you are not 'technically' their customer. They cannot refuse you because of being an additional cardholder - if you suspect this report them to the FOS.2010 - year of the troll

never in doubt,
I also applied for a card with egg when OH got refused, and was told couldn't have one as I already have one!!! Just called egg, and their CS also reckons Oh wasn't refused just because he was a second card holder on mine!!! Apprently I was refused as there was still a marker on my old card account. CS is now removing this so I should be able to reapply.
Have been given a number plus extension number for OH to call, to see why they reckon he already has an account.
Personally I think egg make up the rules as they go along0 -

Well until OH calls them I can't say that is the reason, will have to wait and see what the outcome of that call is0 -

Ok, so you used to be a cardholder and the OH was an additional cardholder right? If so, there should be no record of him/her - only you. The only way they will see your partners details is from the application THEY made, it is also impossible to apply twice (it instant declines you), unless when they got the email message they actually clicked the apply link again (usually instant decline) instead of check application..... when they log in, click 'my account' and there should be a secure message in the messages folder. If the account is open, it will also show when you log in.
If you used to be a cardholder and they it is still 'open' then ask for a new card and check your credit limit lol. I think they may mean that the customer record is still live, not the actual account.
Egg really aint that good, any reason you want to use them (especially after thus carry on).... CitiBank no longer offer cards, they push customer toward Egg (I use & prefer Citi Gold)...2010 - year of the troll

Thats correct I was a card holder till March 2008, account closed with zero balance. Oh was a 2nd card holder on this account.
Sorry yes you're correct about the account being live as opposed to being open, sorry.
As far as I know OH has never even applied for an egg card in his own name till last week.
And the reason we wanted to use them was for the 0% till Jan 2011, OH has over £4000 on one card and £4000 on a different one. I started looking thru his stuff and realised one of this cards was on 29.9% whilst the other is one 20.9% I made him apply for the egg card in the hope of reducing one of thes balances.
TBH I only started looking into it more deeply was when they said, he couldn;t have one cos he alreay had one. I then assumed it was because of my previous card. Went online nad was suprised I could still log in to egg ( tho from what you've said this is common) So I emailed egg asking if Oh may have been refused due to be second card holder. Got numpty reply saying OH should contact them to discuss his a/c. Emailed them back and explained again. They then replied No he would not have been refused for that reason.
But it's been bugging me since last week. so decided to come on here and ask, and call Egg and see what they actually say.
Egg CS stated there is a marker on my account that prevented me from applying again, he has agreed to remove this, and I should be able to reapply soon, should I wish too. OH has to call them and find out what exactly they hold on him, as they wont discuss him with me ( rightly so)
So now I need to persuade a Financial phobic to call egg .... should be fun :rotfl:0 -
Never in doubt
from your post i presume citi and egg are connected ??
FOOEEEYYY I forgot to consider this when trying to deal with his blinking credit card debt. I was just focusing on getting his debt shifted to a lower rate of interest. He already has a card with citi.0 -
Citi now own Egg.0

Oh stuff and stuff again:mad:
OH has run up his two cards without a thought for the ARP's He kept telling me they was 18.9% however last wk I stomped my feet and demanded he dealt with it all. It was then it transpire his cards aren't 18.9 but 20.9 and 29.9:mad:
I am mega cross cos I've worked so hard to reduce our debt and had thought there was actuall a light at the end of the tunnel. So I jsut thought right lets get this BT to a 0% and then we can really chip away at it. Thats when the egg problem started.0
