My PS3 has broken after 2 years and 2 month old. Looking at the internet it seems the model I have dies after 2 years of use, Sony don't won't admit there is an inherent fault (yellow light of death). Whilst googling I've seen something about a retailer being responsible for repairs or replacement of an item if it breaks down after an unreasonable amount of time. I think 2 years for a £350 item in unreasonable.

Am I right? If so can someone post a link I can print off so I can take it to the shop to show them to back up my argument.
Thanks

    Thanks

consumer direct site is what you need, google it.

I think you do have a case, and yeh its the most common ps4 fault. Something like 3-4% fail after 3 years apparently.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.
  • Thankyou, the consumer direct site is just what I need. I shall print it off and go in the shop tomorrow and see what response I get.

do a little more digging, a little knowledge is a bad thing for this thin.

If you miss read something and go in guns blazing you will lose any credibility.
First point would be to write via recorded post, not go in but still worth a try.

Next point would be to make sure you understand that its up to you to prove there is a fault from manufacture, this is done by an engineers report usually, if they dont ask, dont bother though.

I'll go in there and see what happens but won't push it, just get a name of who I spoke to and then write to the head office if I don't get any success.

Nope! Has to have been at least 3 years ago if your post is accurate!:D
  • Went into Game armed with a letter and a copy of the sale of goods act. Manager said I needed to contact the customer services so I used the phone in the shop (to save my phone bill ;)). Customer services didn't argue, said they class the reasonable time limit as 3 years so as my machine is 2 years and 2 months they are happy to fix it free of charge . The company they use for repairs will contact me tomorrow and arrange courier collection and should take 3 weeks to deliver it back to me. Fingers crossed it will all go smoothly.
