You can register you mobile phones and other electrical items at https://www.immobilise.com/
this is a government and police lead scheme you register you details and the details of you phone etc and you can report them lost online this blocks the phone and reports it stolen on the police datbase.
The service is also free!

jonuk7 wrote:if you actually read what i put my friend it is quite obvious that it says blocked, puk code requests and network restrictions, thought you would get the bit where i have said BLOCKED phones as meaning changing IMEI numbers, i can do this for a small fee because i dont actually change the IMEI but so far using my method i have succesfully "Unblocked" 19 phones and not one has ever become faulty or blocked.
We are talking about adding the IMEI number to the British government's blacklist of stolen phones' IMEIs. Once a phone is added to this list it cannot be used in the UK.
Changing an IMEI number, or even just possessing the equipment for changing IMEI numbers is a criminal offence punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment (http://www.opsi.gov.uk/ACTS/acts2002/20020031.htm).
What you are talking about is something completely different entirely.0 -
It is possible to rewrite the phones software on some Nokia DCT4 model phones so what it does is checks another area of the rom chip and not the uem chip where the imei number is stored, therefore technically the imei is not changed on the phone.Welcome, rogerramjet.

not quite true but this is not the place to discuss this, but the imei must be changed in the re-writable security area or there would not be an IMEI number to check (send) to the network operator to check if its blocked.
the software patch which compares the otp imei with security area imei is simply changed from if logic levels = 1+1 then output 0 to 1+1 then output 1, 0=security failed, 1=check ok.
there's alot more to it than that but thats easy to understand.

interesting, what imei number is sent to the network to validate it against the blocked database, if the original is blocked?
or do you have access to the database?
as i'm sure your aware the imei is checked first before you can make a call.
very interested in your answer.
