Another vote for the O2 one - got one last week for £15 delivered and can confirm it was definitely unlocked...

Offering £30 Quidco on PAYG Mobile Broadband as well..

    Thanks

Ignore prices etc, check coverage first and foremost - most poor reviews are just because people bought the cheapest network they could which happened to have no coverage and then complain about it.

As a rough guide, 3 have the best coverage, then Vodafone, then T-Mobile then O2 - however ALWAYS check.

..and don't confuse a recommendation to buy an unlocked dongle for £15 (with potentially £30 cashback) as an endorsement of the network operator supplying it.

As the dongle is unlocked, you can use it with any operator...

EDIT: To remove the O2-branded connection manager for a generic one, you need to download and run this dashboard update file while the dongle is attached:
    http://www.dc-unlocker.com/downloads/open/33
You do not need the unlocker software underneath as the dongle is already unlocked! :)

    Thanks

also worth noting that you cant buy an orange mobile broadband pay as you go or contract unless you buy the dongle from them...

So you cant have an already unlocked dongle and then use it on orange....you have to purchase it from them.
  • Hi myothercarisaferrari,

Vodafone have a promotion on their Pay As You Go dongles at the moment.

(As i'm new I can't post links yet - sorry) Google - "USB modem stick Vodafone £29"

I would deifinitely check the signal strength where your brother is first though, this can be done here -

(Again, new so can't post links) Google - "Vodafone Coverage Checker"

Whichever network you choose, I hope your brother gets loads of enjoyment out of the convenience of mobile broadband, it's been very handy for me.

    Thanks.

Just wondered if anyone knew where I could get one without signing to a cotnract? My brother mentioned he wants one for Xmas!

    thanks x

You really have to check which ones will give him the best coverage they vary so much. 3G signals are not very good at penetrating walls, so it really can depend upon where the transmitters are and how far away they are.
