You can get prepaid dongles from 3 shops or online: the prices keep changing but the dongle come preloaded with an allowance of 1gb, 3gb, 12gb or 24gb. They are expected to last for 1/3/12/24 months max, after which they expire.
I think that you can get 12gb for £69.99 and 3gb for £39.99. You just pay cash so there are no contracts, no direct debits, no giving them your bank details etcWho having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I`m not sure how much you want to spend or how often your brother plans to use his mobile broadband.
Vodaphone PAYG is worth considering, it is £29.00 and comes with 1 Gb of data. Data is more expensive than its rivals (£15/Gb topup) but as it does not expire and need topping up every month it can be cheaper to run for occaisional/low use.
Got £10 cashback from cashback kings on mine too!.

data usage in the USA is extortionate, i was discussing it with an american friend when i was over in Boston during the summer and she pretty much said not to bother. i found quite a few free wireless hotspots though, so i still got fairly regular internet access.0 -

A word of warning: beware of cr @p connection with these dongle things. My experience of the T-mobile one is terrible, it seems my experience was typical in that they work great for a month or two but then the connection is very temperamental and it often takes 10 minutes to do something that takes 10 secs to do online normally, if you can get to do it at all. I was on a contract with mine.
A friend who has one with another company (not sure which one), found that the connection cut out a lot.
I would do a lot of internet research and read a lot of reviews before getting one of these things."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
