Oh how random, I was thinking the same thing this morning, thanks Jnelhams!0

i dehydate any bulk apples i get (and any other fruit/veg!), using the method on jnelhams link, and add them to cakes and cookies. The flavour is way more intense than fresh apples, and it adds a lovely bit of texture.0

I dehydrate mine in the Tchibo dehydrator heehee - if you leave them in a little longer then the recommended length you end up with apple crisps! yay! They are sooo yum!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

This doesn't help the OP, but it may help others if they keep their eyes peeled at car boot sales etc. I was lucky enough to inherit an electric dehydrator, mines similar to this one but a lot older model.
It uses hardly any electric and makes dried fruit and veg a doddle. I've also dried herbs in mine, when satsumas and mandarins went really cheap last year I dried a load and have stored them in an air tight plastic box ready to mix with other autumn/winter bits and bobs like pine cones and essential oils to make winter pot pourri for own use and gifts. Wouldn't be without mine now and the bonus is it makes the house smell wonderful when you're slow drying lemons, oranges etc.NSD Challenge 2010:Jul 12/12; Jun 21/14 :T; May : 6/6

.......make apple crisps? I've tried before by slicing them really thinly and ppooping them in the oven. But they always come out really soggy and a bit manky. I'd really appreciate any tips!0
