This is a great tip, although is spoilt a little by the presence of the Amazon Marketplace sellers.
For example in music, if you follow the tip, you get thousands of results because cds are general sold off for pennies.
Some money savers may like this option, but for me if I go to Amazon it's because I want to buy a new cd, not a second hand one. I'll go to ebay for that!
Does anyone know how to exclude the Marketplace sellers from the search? We are QPR, say we are QPR!0 -

If you choose to only show items with free super saver delivery it should weed out most of the non Amazon items as I think that only items actually sold by Amazon themselves offer this delivery option.0 -
Do your search as normal and when the results appear add "&pct-off=75-99" to the end of the URL and press enter. Works for me.
Cool! Yeah, I tried to figure this out so I could come here n look all smart, hehe
I guess you're the smart one though. Thanks man, this is really helpful. I think the above alone could replace the entire 'Finding Bargains' section in the Amazon article, as it's a better way of finding exactly what you're after, and at a discounted price of your choosing.
Anyway, thanks to all! :T"Most people would rather die than think; in fact, they do so" ~ Bertrand Russell0 -
There are some websites which have automated all this; I mentioned some on an earlier thread where I originally outlined the Amazon code to get the discounts. It's a lot less painful! The site I pointed out in that thread doesn't seem to include Amazon marketplace sellers, which is a relief.

Hmm, I've been looking for some slippers as a present. Every pair of slippers I've looked at so far, when I've added &pct-off=75-99 to the URL, the price hasn't changed. Some already have a discount, but some don't.
With the other method, although you don't find specifically what you're looking for (ie: as I mentioned in my first post in this thread), they are all guaranteed to be discounted.
I guess that discount sorcerer brings it all together, as you can specifically search for something, and also know they will be at a discounted price too. The only reason I say "I guess" is because I'm a tad suspicious as to whether discount sorcerer's results are indeed the best results.
Edit: Taking my "ultra supiscious" hat off though, discount sorcerer does look like a really good method for bargain hunting. So, thanks! for the mention."Most people would rather die than think; in fact, they do so" ~ Bertrand Russell0 -
Thanks for the reminder Cherry Hinton Blue. I have used the site Discount Sorcerer you mentioned in your post and it seems to do a similar thing to the links in the Amazon Links article. What I really like is that you can sort results by best discount or biggest £ saving or by rating all of which I find useful. There seems to be a lot of stuff which is 80-85% off although I think the items which are flagged as more than 90% off are probably mistakes at Amazon.0

Thanks for all your feedback.
Doing a search (for "TV") and adding &pct-off=75-99 didn't work for me either?
But the point about narrowing it to ‘free supersaver delivery’ on the left to exclude marketplace sellers works really well - I've added to article.0 -

Not sure what you mean by that. But you don't add &pct-off=75-99 to the end of the search results URL, if that's what you're doing. You add it to the end of the product URL, when you're on the product page. All I was sayin was you don't know if it's elsewhere on the amazon site at a discounted price, until you add &pct-off=75-99 to check. So you can spend a lot of time and not find any discounts. That was my point.
Then again, the &pct-off=75-99 is still useful when used in conjuction with discount sorcerer, as an extra check. Let's say discount sorcerer throws up 50% discount.
You can double check whether there isn't even more of a discount by using &pct-off=75-99 . At least until you've gained enough experience to trust discount sorcerer implicitly."Most people would rather die than think; in fact, they do so" ~ Bertrand Russell0 -
You used to be able to request a refund of the 'extra' paid on Amazon if an item you purchased reduced in price within 90 days. This was very useful, especially at christmas time when you could buy in December and claim back the difference on any January sale reductions. Can you still do this? From memory you had to raise a refund request and explain that you wanted a partial refund as the price had reduced.0

I might be being extremely dense (it's been a long day) but when I did the 60-99% off books link as demonstrated in the guide, leaving it sorted by bestselling, the first book is Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer rrp 7.99 reduced to 3.46. I make that 57% off not 60%. I checked the next three books and they were all less than 60% discount (not by much), couldn't be bothered to check any more of them.
I did just try a few things I had in my shopping basket saved for later and the reported discounts on those were correct.0
