We don't normally tip anyone at christmas but this year the lad who does our supermarket delivery is getting tipped.
He's very good and carries the bags through to the kitchen at the back of the house if there's no-one about who's able to and just lately my OH's been ill (still is really), I suffer with a bad back so he's a godsend:jI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I don't tip anyone. I think it's a really outdated concept now. All these people earn an income. I know you can argue that people like postmen get up early everyday and do their job, but that's what it is, their job, for which they earn a salary. I make a donation to one of the homeless charities over Christmas because they help people who have nothing, but I don't see why I would give money to people just for doing the job of work they are already paid to do.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

I tip the milkman and if the paperboy is keen enough to write me out a Christmas card and knock with it, I'll tip him as well!0

this year i will be tipping the binmen as it always sweetens them up
....they are more likely to collect the extra bag here and there etc.
if we hada paper i would tip the deliverer...i was papergirl for my teen years...i used to do every evening a route that took about 2 hours (houses where wide spread but only had 20 or so) and a sunday morning which again took a long while and they are HEAVY!! lol and for that i received a whacking great wage of 6.20...so i was always very appreciative of the tips in the cold wet wintery christmas...i even delivered papers in the hurricane we had in 96/97 cant remeber which....that was fun not!...so from experience i know how much hard work it can be we jhad to deliver come rain or shine..even harder if you didnt have abike...so i think paper boys and girls definatly ewanr their tips

I don't tip any of those people. In fact i don't even tip taxi drivers. I tip a small amount in restaurants or the pizza delivery guys, but nobody else.
I wouldn't tip the binmen anyway, i have to lug my bags to the bottom of the street so they're right next to the road, takes me ages and i'm far from strong, especially being so pregnant atm!! Then the next morning i see they've kindly left half of it behind anyway, strewn all over the place. :rolleyes:0 -
I tip the window cleaner, the postman and the milkman £10 each.
If I am at home when the binmen come then it's usually a 24 pack of Stella Artois.
I don't have papers delivered.
My friends son, when younger, had a paper round and he said the tips from the people in the posher end of town where few and far between but the people from the council estate were incredibly generous.0 -
Our bin men are fab. Our postie is great too, we live in a small village and it takes him ages to get round as he makes time for everyone. We don't tip but buy our bin men and postie some beer, which they always really appreciate.:hello:

I've never tipped anyone really, apart from the odd taxi driver.
My postie is really good though, but not even sure how to go about it. I'd be worried about being patronising in a "Good boy. Get yourself some sweets." kind of way.0 -
I never see the binmen or postie...
Its a v sweet idea though..if you know them and communicate..certainly would tip a paperboy..if I had one!!OU Law studentMay Grocery challenge£30/ £110 -
As a postman here is my little tip.
Those that tip i always make sure their packets are left with a neighbour or in a shed or garage.
Those that never tip i take all packets back to the office and leave a little card telling them where to collect it ( 5 miles away).
Merry Christmas to you all0
