our boiler is not even rated its so old! does that mean we cant apply as there is no rating?
we wanted to get it changed and £400 towards the work would really help!0 -
Mine is on the G rated list.. Even with the £400 off I couldnt afford to rip out a perfectly working Boiler for the SUM of around £2000 fitted.
I will wait till it blows up,,0 -

The detail has not yet been announced.
Are you sure your boiler is not rated?
Don't forget that the names of many boilers manufacturers have changed and the model is included under the new manufacturers name.
For example I have an Ideal Mexico. The handbook and label on boiler refer to it as an Ideal Mexico. The firm were/are part of the Stelrad Group.
However on the list(in the link I posted above) it is listed under the manufacturer 'Caradon' who have presumably bought the firm.0 -

yes I called up Baxi (it is a Baxi solo 2 PF) and thats what they told me. The upgraded version is only a D and so they said it would be less than that but no idea if a E, F or G. Apparently as it has been discontinued they don't even have one to test to find out the rating. Just hope that the government scheme will have considered people in our situation....0 -
Hi
We have a 21 year old Potterton Netaheat Electronic, which BG, on their service visits, keep saying is 65% and really should be updated! (It's had nearly everything changed in the last few years tho' and works fine!!)
I also would want another ordinary boiler, and keep the hot water tank.
What would you recommend? (We have 11 radiators.)
Thanks
Sorry, I have really no idea and will be having to ask the same question myself soon I suspect. Not too soon I hope!!
The problem is that new boilers are all condensing and have new technology. Manufacturers have changed, common parts are bought it and your reliable Potterton, and my Ideal, of 20+ years ago might now be unreliable; and a rubbish boiler manufacturer of the 1980's now be excellent.
It is like cars. Recommend a Skoda as reliable to a friend 20 years ago and you would be considered strange - now they are effectively VW and excellent cars. Mercedes of the 1980's were 'carved from steel' and had ledgendary reliability - now they are just another manufacturer.0 -
The landlord had a new combi installed two years ago, D rated, right next to the kitchen sink. My understanding is this should have been a condensing boiler. Is this correct?0
-
Yes/Maybe. Unless this property is a flat or a mid-terrace house (where a condensing boiler might cause too much nuisance due to the water vapour cloud that sometimes comes out of the flue - see dept of local gov and communities for valid exceptions to the condensing rule) you must fit a condensing boiler as a replacement for an older type. The registered installer must send a notice to the local building control dept and also to Corgi - Now called GasSafe to notify them of the installation of a new heating appliance. May have been a DIY install without a building notice or cowboy/cash installation. Contact your local council building control dept and tell them about it.0

If you look at the link on G rated boilers I posted earlier, there are several models in the Baxi Solo 2 series. however they are all annotated 30pf, 40pf etc no 2 pf (it appears that the 20, 30 etc is 20 kW etc
They give serial Numbers so you can check if yours is amongst the G boilers0 -
