HSBC Managed fund - safe, balanced & high risk

A rep from the bank has been trying to get me to invest my inheritance (£30,000) in a fund which will cost me 4.5% to join, 1.25% per year and could yield a max of 12% per year. Is this reasonable? My friends say, no, but are there better alternatives?

Loads of better alternatives. Its expensive, has no track record but what there has been hasnt been good and single fund investing on £30k is lazy. Not bad but just what you expect from a sales rep.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
