as a former debs employee the reason they are stopping is because the company is giving stock to customers who have gained nectar points elsewhere.this means that debs effectively is giving the items away for nothing.the scheme has not worked as well for debs as they hoped it would.it is simply a case of improving margins.this has been brought in by mr templeman(chief exec) so he can make more profit and reduce the huge loan he has from purchasing the company.i get a feeling they are looking at starting there own scheme in a couple of years time to encourage loyalty to the debs brand.they have already cut staffing down to a bare minimum and yet they want more results from half as many staff on the floors.so this is probably the last thing he can do to reduce costs and increasing profit margins.

I received my letter today, stating that Debenhams will no longer accept Nectar card from the 16/2, which means I only got 3 days notice, which really is not enough with notice.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

On the plus side they are giving away vouchers at the moment to compensate in some way. They are for nectar card holders £5 off £25 spend and £10 off £50 spend valid until June. By this they say they are giving you the equivilant of 1000 or 2000 pts on these spends. To be found at the tills but you are only given them when you purchase/show your nectar card, make sure you ask.:j
  • I don't really blame them, how many people collected points at Sainsbury's and spent them at Debs? I know I did so it is my fault, sorry everyone!.

not your fault bigvince.everybody just plays the game to get what is best for them.the previous management of the company did not think it through properly before joining the scheme.they just jumped on the band wagon after seeing the success tesco got from the clubcard.

You also receive these vouchers with your next Debenhams bill + a voucher for a free coffee or pot of tea at Debenhams. :j
