New iPhone tariff with O2 - £20/month

Just found from Mac Forums and checked with O2. For existing iPhone users nearing the end of their contract (ie 12th January for 3g if purchased on release day like I just had to do), there is a new tariff O2 have yet to advertise called Simplicity-20-for-iPhone. This gives you 600 minutes, 1200 texts as well as the usual free data / wifi / Cloud that comes with the phone for £20 inc VAT - a saving of £15 + extra texts from the £35 tariff.
They are also offering Simplicity-30-for-iPhone - £30 gives 1200 minutes and 2400 texts.
This is obviously due to the other Service Providers giving O2 a bit of competition and O2 trying to retain their customers.
The new contract is a rolling 1 month contract so when the next update comes out or you want to go elsewhere, not a problem.
I checked with O2 and was told to call back on 12th December and the tariff will be instated. According to other forums, others have managed to get on this tariff straight away. If you try and the customer service rep doesn't know or hasn't heard of it, ask to be put through to retentions who know and can help.
As stated, this is for existing iPhone pay monthly customers off or nearing the end of their contracts, nobody else.

The tariff has been available for a few weeks now but is only available through the retentions team, phone up and select the option for "if you're thinking of leaving o2". It is purely a retention tariff for customers at the end of their contract as the above poster says.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0

Isn't this basically their normal SIM only deal but with the added Cloud support?CasparBone wrote: »Just found from Mac Forums and checked with O2. I'd be interested to find out what happens with this tarrif as I am near the end of my contract and was going to change to sim only and keep my Iphone.
Hopefully it is for everyone and not just a retention thing you have to fight to get.0 -
It adds some extra features, such as visual voicemail and conference calls.0

I've noticed that t mobile do a pay and go deal where you get free texts and internet when you top up £10 a month - would this work on the iphone? My contract ends on the 16th january and want to spend as little as possible after spending over £30 a month for the last 18 months0

Your alternative of course is that when your contract is over, request that O2 provide you with an unlock code so you can unlock your iPhone legally (not Jail-break as the unofficial unlocks are referred) which will allow you to put whichever network SIM in that you desire.0

Sounds like a good idea. And the t mobile sim will work perfectly? Internet and all? It sounds like a great offer, and I would just transfer my number across as I use it for my business.

Haven't tried it personally but according to Mac Rumors (sic) forums, that's exactly how it goes.0

Yes you would be able to switch to this, I'm considering it myself. The only disadvantage would be loss of wi-fi, visual voicemail and conference calling.0
