Ministry of Paintball - Have I been Done?

Out shopping on Saturday and big stall in high street selling sets of eight VIP tickets for Ministry of Paintball. Son wants a paintballing birthday party so we thought we'd go ahead and get some at £49.95.
Now we look into it this further I have doubts about it. Was promised a refund within seven days but am wondering if we will get one or if it will be another waste of five quid for special delivery. I am normally so savvy (guess it was the hassle of Xmas shopping) I paid cash too:o.
Any advice/shared experiences I would be grateful.

I spoke to a sales guy from the ministry of paintball (I'm a paintball regular, usually at delta force) he ended up trying to sell me two sets for the same price. The real cost of the day is actually the paintballs, the small cost (what you managed to spend alot on I might add) is the entry fee. These "tickets" just pressure you into using them and obviously, spending alot on balls.
When I go paintballing, £10 entrance (usually free if I blag it) and then about £70 on paintballs, go once a month.
Get it refunded if you can. Then phone a couple of centres trying to get a good deal on a bulk buy of paintballs and X players coming. Also when you get their make sure the manager knows who the birthday boy is, usually you get even more paintballs lol0 -
I hope I can get a refund. I can't believe the posters were saying that these were being sold at 85% discount when it seems they are pretty much valueless.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

I am not getting any refund and its very critical things for me to refund this paintball.
Thanks

My friend nearly bought some of these, I rang the local paintball company they send you to. The owner advised me that he would offer me the same deal we were being offered for free (They make money selling you the paint balls during the day). He also told me that the organisers in effect give the packages the salesmen offer for £49.95 to them for free so they attract customers. So the sales companies profit is whatever they sell the package for.
(The sales companies in the shopping centres are normally not connected to the actual paint ball organisers)0 -

Ok...we're up to post count 6 now. Any bets on what stringerjanet is going to post next?
Quick, before they go critical!0 -
Actually the lack of posts on here is making me feel I'm perhaps overreacting so I'm just going to try for a refund and will report back if all goes wrong.
Thanks for all the replies even Stringerjanet!:D:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
I've phoned MOP as we weren't given a receipt and asked to pay cash and they ask for a receipt and the tickets to be returned for refund. They say I need a receipt but send anyway. I hope that this will be refunded and that a receipt was not issued deliberately to invalidate the refund promise. I will take copies of everything and hope for the best. If this is a scam I will be informing Trading standards as they need to know. Wish me luck.
By the way I do feel really stupid paying cash and not checking I got a receipt. I paid and hubby was given the tickets. I am normally so savvy I blame the stress of Xmas shopping but everyone please be warned and actually take more care at Xmas not less as there are even more scammers out there at this time of year. Hopefully not in this case. I will give them the benefit of the doubt for the time being.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0
