Hi there, I have been virus free for over four years, and 2 nights ago my boyfriend decided to download some music which resulted in a message coming up telling him he needed to download a music player hence multiple trojans- I could kill him i really could -hes not at all into pc's and wouldnt have realised the danger he was causing...bah
ive been succesfully running avg for years, no probs whatsoever until this, yet it seems to have killed my avg - as avg picking up nthing whatsoever even tho it was obvious immediately there was a virus. I have used housecall and bit defender online(running at the mo) scanners which are both picking up various trojans/adware. Can someone advise me in non techy speak how to best sort this out? until i get an answer im going to keep scanning with varous online scanners to try and help, not even sure if thats the right thing to do. trojans scare me, and this pc is used regulrly , a real family pc.
also maybe nows a good time to swap avg, if anyone knows of any advice re a better free anti virus programme i would be happy to hear. thanks in advance for some help

Do a scan with malwarebytes
then install.
Avira or avast!!

As mentioned scan with MalwareBytes - install, update, full scan, fix and post the log here. Then use HijackThis - full scan, don't fix anything, just post the log.0

Leave AVG alone - it's antivirus, and MalwareBytes is more antispyware. They won't clash.
The log will be displayed onscreen, just highlight and copy/paste0 -
I like comodo Security suite. It comes with AV firewall and defense+ and is free for life. I also used system protect from crawler on my laptop, you can select folders and system settings such as registry keys from being altered without authorisation. It said on the box requires Windows 7 or better, so I bought a MAC0
