I didn't know there was going to be an election. I won't know when it is. I won't be voting. I don't care who gets in because, let's face it, yet again, whoever gets in will tax us more, take more money off us .... to buy/pay for stuff that we didn't need or want.
  • I'm waiting till after the election before I buy, but then I am living rent free in a nice house (parents 2nd home) so feel no rush to buy just yet.

We need a change of leadership. This will allow old failed policies to be abolished and real change to come in. Labour can only tinker with policies as to do anything radical would infer their existing policies were wrong and have failed.

My whole life has been on hold for the last few years...although that has nothing to do with any election.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I have just been reading one of the other threads and got the impression that people are putting a hold on things whilst waiting for the General Election. Is that true or have I misread things?

We are sitting tight but as you may know our work situation is not great. We are living for the moment and have no plans for holidays, cars etc. Is everyone else in the same boat?

We aren't putting anything on hold as such, but haven't really 'done' the hols etc over the past few years anyway as had a bit of 'a mess' to mop up.

It was people like yourself that inspired us to do a MFW plan.

We are ticking over and, hopefully, things won't die just yet. So, once DD leaves school next year and we all move back to our family home F/T, our living exps will plummet...and we are aiming to chuck every bit of spare into the mortgage (or savings account)....

It would be great to be MF..then I will celebrate with a holiday somewhere nice.

    I reckon just need 3 years to do it....before I am 50.
  • On hold since the summer of 07.

    No end in sight.......

Unless I do something about it that is... ;)
    Not Again

Yep. And it really doesn't matter who gets in, they are all as corrupt and self-serving as each other

So most of us do things according to the circumstances in our own lives, not in anticipation of some mythical post election 'second coming'. IMO people are putting things on hold at the moment - I certainly am - but that is 'cos lots of us are skint. But its been that way for the past few years and will be that way for the considerable future for a lot of us.

Mind you, lots of us are also holding on to the pennies in anticipation of the inevitable tax rises yet to come, regardless of who gets in at the next election. Austerity, here we come........
SMILE....they will wonder what you are up to...........;)

Assuming we're talking about financial decisions:

I put everything on hold, almost all the time!:D

But that is mainly due to how I make decisions.

It is quite rare, though not unheard of, for me to make snap decisions. I'm an absorber & reflector, I do like to reflect on what I've learned & make a decision based upon that.

I'm not on hold due to the GE or anything, as if there is something I want, & I feel is represents value, then I'll go for it. If conversely it isn't good value, then I'll wait.

Likewise, I'm not about to rush out & buy 2 years supply of EVERYTHING just because VAT is about to return to 17.5% or higher.

I base my decisions on my lifes needs & wants, including the needs & wants of those around me/close to me.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

No, Wait for the new year, goodness knows we all need a break but don't wait for the election, just don't get caught up in that trap - live your life, whoever wins the election won't make any difference to our lives:rolleyes:

To be fair it is not just about the election for us. We need work in and don't want to use up the savings we have got until we get more work.
