  • Hi all, Have just come in and rushed to the t v to watch all my new channels,
Nothing!!! All of them are gone.
Will The information you asked for is as follows
    Make PACE
    Model 1.0.53
    Version 9FOAO4
    EPG 3 7 6
  • OK, we need to go through this systematically.

    1. Your software is up to date, so no problem there.
    2. To find model number look underneath digibox.
    3. When you press 'TV Guide' and '1' do you get a full electronic programme guide?
    4. On channel 103 do you receive ITV1 Anglia East or West?
    5. On channel 105 can you receive FIVE during the day? If not, what message do you get? During the day if you take the card out what message do you see?
    6. What do you receive on channels 971-988, 990-992 and 993 during the day and after 17.00? Or what message can you see?

    1. Ok, there is definitely a signal issue. The channels you have problems with are all on Astra 2D, the spot beam.
    2. FIVE broadcasts from two transponders, one of which you receive on channel 105. I am still unsure which version you receive. The 2D version, whose frequency I gave in an earlier post (10773H, 22000 5/6), is free to air, so requires no viewing card. If you remove your card whilst watching FIVE, and you do not lose your viewing, then you are watching an Astra 2D broadcast.
    3. FIVE also broadcasts from Astra 2A south beam. Using the method I gave earlier, tune to 12422H, 27500 2/3. This is the same transponder which FIVER etc use. This may give you a partial solution to watching FIVE. This version is free to view, meaning that you need a viewing card to watch, which you have.
    4. ITV1 Anglia West is broadcast from Astra 2A north beam, which again is free to view. ITV1 London is located on Astra 2D and is free to air. Do you lose ITV1 London after 17.00?
    5. All BBC TV channels are on Astra 2D. Your digibox is not the most sensitive: the Pace 2600c1 looks identical to yours, but has a better tuner. You could also look at your LNB, dish alignment and dish size. I changed my LNB in Portugal a couple of years back, and it brought in more channels. I would definitely try your box on a friend's satellite, (one who does not have your issues) and conversely try their box on yours. This will allow you to narrow the problem down to either box or dish/LNB.
    6. There are cowboys all over Iberia doing Sky installations, many of them expats. There are also some very good installers. I used a local, well-established, firm in Monte Estoril, who came recommended, and would advise you to do the same.

  • !!BINGO!! Will you are a genius! Thank you so much for taking the time to help me sort this out.
  • Sorry to hijack this thread but.. I live in southern France, have a SKYHD box and a bog standard Sky box, both non-subscription (expired and not being renewed), and I have been getting the "you need a new viewing card" message (at £20 each and, no, we wont ship to France). As I am tuned into ITV Granada, and do watch 5 and 5 derivatives, can I retune to get the service from a different area? If so, how do I pick up say Fiver from a different viewing area that is not going to change.
    Thanks in anticipation.

There are no similar FTA (completely free requiring no card) alternatives for the FTV channels (those that require the viewing card) Fiver, Five USA, Sky 3, Viva and LFC TV. The only alternates that exist are BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4 and Five all of which are different regional variations. So for the FTV channels it is either a new card or no view.
  • HI Sorry to drag this thread up again but after returning to Spain after a couple of months away, the digibox seemed to have a life of its own and would only show us a few channels!!
We seem to have sorted it out now but yet again can't get Channel 5.
I've tried changing the frequency etc but all to no avail
I can get five usa, five usa+1, fiver, fiver+1 and bizarrely channel 5 +1 (which we have never had before)
Anybody out there got a solution ?
    Thanks
  • Hi again Will, Thanks once again for a speedy solution
    You're a genius :T:T:T
Do you have any solutions for More 4and E4? I can get these channels during the day but they just fizzle out around 10 oclock at night.
By the way in answer to your question on 105 I just get the message that no satelite signal is being recieved
  • Thanks again for your reply Will
Just to say that the dish we have is 2.4 metres and if we had anything bigger, we would probably have UFOs landing on our land!!
We live on top of a mountain in deepest, darkest Spain and I think are at the furthest end for getting any signals at all.
By some sort of jiggery pokery we are able to get BBC1 on 977 and BBC2 on 992. The 4s chanels seem to be tuned to an Irish network and they just come and go at will, but I think we can live with that for now.
Thanks again for your help
