OP, when you switched lights off, did you just unplug them from the mains wall socket, turn the switch off at the mains wall socket, or..... ????

God knows what you do with faulty tree lights, but fair enough, let the op put them in the box, take them back, Asda can restock them, you can buy them next.

Hardly think that they would re-sell these highly dangerouse child harming lights to someone else after they were returned as faulty, do you?

Was hoping for some advice please?

Opened a pack of christmas lights today. switched them on. nothing happened. went to switch them off and received an electric shock. Was very painful and made me scream. I was showing the lights to my six month baby and thank god they didnt fall on her and shock her.

Have phoned the store and the manager is getting head office to phone me back tomorrow. What can i expect in terms of compensation? What should i do next?

I would be very grateful for any advice

    thanks

All you are entitled to is refund/replace...

Personally I always feel that there are two options - return faulty goods to store OR contact trading standards.
In this case (and I haven't yet ever felt anything serious enough in my experience to do this) I would have contacted Trading Standards in case there are other faulty sets out there.

Nobody is being a troll, this is clearly a wind up

and do you have to be quite so dramatic? if it was "genuine" which I very much doubt, it could have been her electrics in the house and not the lights at all

    Ok, abusive trolls then.
