Electric shock from Asda christmas lights

Was hoping for some advice please?

Opened a pack of christmas lights today. switched them on. nothing happened. went to switch them off and received an electric shock. Was very painful and made me scream. I was showing the lights to my six month baby and thank god they didnt fall on her and shock her.

Have phoned the store and the manager is getting head office to phone me back tomorrow. What can i expect in terms of compensation? What should i do next?

I would be very grateful for any advice

thanks

    Compensation for what??

Maybe getting them to pay for the counselling fees that you will obviously need to go to, or the hospital fees for you and your babies "almost" injuries!!

The most you should hope for is to look into the matter and to offer a full refund. They will probably give you a £5 gift voucher too.

Lol, do you really just expect them to say "Oh my gosh we are so sorry here have 3 grand".

The best you can hope for without a long and expensive court battle is a refund and a free coffee in the cafe.

Do you make a habit of hanging electronically items over your child?

    Ignore the trolls.
Don't give Asda the lights back.
Contact trading standards in the morning.
If Asda are selling dangerous lights they will be prosecuted.
The rest of the lights will be seized and checked, and if they are dangerous Asda will have to do a recall on them.

Nobody is being a troll, this is clearly a wind up

and do you have to be quite so dramatic? if it was "genuine" which I very much doubt, it could have been her electrics in the house and not the lights at all

    Who was trolling?

The troll would be the person who has suffered absolutely no loss and expects money out of it. I am not anti-compo, but i feel it deserves to go people who have actually suffered.

think you should write in and demand a refund
Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you
  • I understand how much it must have frightened you, even worse that your child could have also been hurt. It could have been a lot worse if they had touched the baby.
If I were you I'd also contact trading standards for them to investigate further and to express your concerns to have the other stock examined.

I don't understand why some people post when they are being of no help to the OP and giving more grief than needed.

I wish you the best OP.
