I suppose it depends on how much you use the car and the cost of running it Sally.....as I don't drive and DH isn't allowed to there was little choice in getting rid of ours but the savings are fantastic.

DH and I have been talking about me learning to drive if there's no chance of him being able to again....we're still undecided as to whether it would be worth the expense of the lessons and the running of a car for the little we'd "have" to use it.

Pooky, how old are your daughters, are they old enough to learn to drive?

Because the motability scheme pays for someone to learn to drive, but they have to be under 25. So maybe it would be worth one of the kids learning to drive? Then there's the option of getting a motability car, but although it's stress free it's quite expensive motoring (£45 per week plus petrol).
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

They're only 11 and 14 Ames so a while yet. To be honest the even with 2 hospital appointments a week we're only spending around £10/£15 on taxi/bus fares so a car would be yet more money out than is coming in....it's just the conveiniece of it I suppose.

Sally - Sometimes the life line is worth the finacial costs. Hope you get everything sorted with the council, I'm amazed at how they're just allowed to stop and start these payments. But as for overpaying you by that much......somethings gone very wrong somewhere and I bet they don't apologise for it.

Does anyone remember that Scottish sitcom 'The High Life'? Was the funniest thing on TV at the time, although I watched an episode recently and didn't think it had aged well.

I cleared the boot out of my poor car today :(

Unfortunately, the damage means the rain is leaking in  and so I had a couple of soggy jumpers and a big folder of wet paperwork which were on the damaged side of the boot.

It doesn't like shutting either

How are you feeling now BB?

I know it's horrible, but cars and boot contents are just things - the most important thing is that you are okay. x
