OS Daily Thread - SATURDAY 5th December

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 5th December. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Christmas QOTD: 'It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.' ~ W.T. Ellis
welcome2.gif MoneyMission - Thank you for the lovely post and I hope you will keep posting with us here!
Sunnygirl - Your wreath sounds great, well done you.
PenPen - Hope you had a nice OS day with Gingham.
Mummysaver - Enjoy your new oven hon!
lowesy - of course you can use it!
Hester - Congrats to your husband hon and I hope it all works out Ok for him.
flutterby - Hope you have a great weekend, even if you aren't reading this giggle.gif
Bitsy - I love your advent calendar. When I was 15 I went to Israel and bought a wooden carved nativity scene which has been pride of place ever since. It fell out of the window once and smashed into what looked like 100 pieces and I sat for days gluing it back together!
Haribo - so glad you are having a great time with your folks. Hope the fayre and panto today are fun, it sounds like Christmas has really started in the Haribo household.
Bitsy - any clues as to where your husband might be on the online version of Mens Health at all? I so want to [STRIKE]have a nosey [/STRIKE] take a look.
nmlc - Well done on the weight-loss and meeting your pre-christmas target, I really envy your determination.
Pen-pin - I hope you feel better today
Tristan is obviously still very very weak. I am talking to our friend out there. She said that since he got home he has really only been sleeping. Drifting in and out of consciousness but not really with it for more than about 10 mins or so at a time. But I am hopeful that this will help him heal and get stronger.
xmastree.gif I have put the WM on and folded the last lot that was in the TD. Trying the no knead bread for tomorrow, following a tutorial on Youtube. Luckily my OH got some bread for todays lunch for 15p last night together with some jam doughnuts for 10p which we both ate for supper with a cup of tea. Todays lunch will be boiled eggs and toast - I just fancy it.
xmastree.gif The gammon was lovely btw, I must buy that more often. Tonights dinner will be chicken breast and I am going to coat it in breadcrumbs flavoured with garlic and some chilli and then bake in the oven with mashed potato and all the left over veg bits and pieces from the fridge.
I hope everyone has a good day. To anyone feeling under the weatherhead%20cold.gif - get well soon. With love and light for all.

    Morning All

Not as cold here this morning - yesterday was baltic!!

Woke this morning to DD in a sneezing frenzy....she's a runny nose and the start of a cough but at the moment she's not grumpy (well no more than usual!) but I think I'll get some medicine for her and tablets for me as my nose feels a bit 'fizzy' and I have too much on this weekend to be sick!

Took a chicken out of the freezer last night for todays dinner - not sure yet whether if will be with mash and veg or chips and peas but either way there'll be gravy.

I think I need to put the coffee pot on...I feel the need for a cafeine boost and I might look to see what MS jobs can be done today to make Monday a bit easier.

Hope everyone has a good day

    Morning.

Looks wet out there and more rain to come today, tomorrow the next day........
Weekend off, so today will be a bit of Christmas shopping, mad i know, but I am sure it will be OK, if I eat a pasty or 2 along the way.

Went to dentist yesterday with a bit of a mild toothache, she fixed it there and then, so much happier now. I guess NHS is not so bad if you have one? Still cost me £45 though.

I just realized that I have no more work until Jan 5th. I am on a course next week and then 3 weeks off, so that's not so bad. I will pop in and tidy a few things up all the same no doubt.

Well, no moneysaving today...... spend day I think.

Cheers and have a good day

    Morning everyone.
Not much sleep between 2.30am and 5.30am with both kids. DS seems to be suffering with this cold, it's like it's come back again with a vengence and he couldn't stop coughing. Ended up putting the heating back on which helped. DD then decided to wake at 5am and needed a cuddle.
I've got some chocolate rum balls to finish off making. Used a receipe that says chill the melted ingredients and that was Thurs night :o Still not go around to finishing them off yet oops! Going to be a messy job I reckon.
I'd like to make some cheese scones as DS keeps asking for them so think today might be a bit of a baking day all being well.

Struggling to get the washing dry as the heating isn't on as much as it used to be  Got another couple of loads to wash and then dry. No idea how I am going to dry it all......

Edited to add those of you that do read the actual article in Men's Health half the stuff they quoted my H as saying he actually didn't.....like the reason that sparked his weightloss was the fact that he was turfed off a rollercoaster as they couldn't fit him in the seat - not true. The safety bar felt really tight but he could still get in and ride  Artistic licence methinks on pretty much the whole article. Still he looks bl00dy good in the photo :rotfl:

Diva - sadly I don't think he's on the online version - just had a look and can't see it there. Think it must be in the magazine only - sorry :(
Glad Tris is getting lots of rest. Still got my positive vibes going for him xx

N9eav - lucky you with no more work til 5th Jan. I've got a couple of weeks of work and then it's Christmas. Sadly Christmas and New Years day fall on the last two Fridays in December so I shan't earn any money on those days and my mindee on wrap around is term time only so no money during the holidays either :( Gonna be a tight month til January payday so will have to get my MS butt really into gear.

Money Mission - I forgot to say yesterday how lovely it was to see your post. Welcome and please come back and post again :T

charsanta.gif Have a good day OS or not. Hugs to those that need them.

    The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full grown,
Of all trees that are in the wood,
    The holly bears the crown:
O, the rising of the sun,
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ,
    Sweet singing of the choir

    Morning :D
In my advent calendar today - a gift basket :snow_grin
Hester - great news about OH's job thumbs_up_smiley.gif

I filled my stand in friend's shop with Christmas cards yesterday - now, if you could all head down there and buy one each I'd be very grateful :rotfl:

Mr tru didn't make his stew yesterday, he made leeks wrapped in ham and cooked in cheese sauce with mashed potatoes and celeriac - yum. There's probably a name for it but I don't know what it is, lol.

I bought some grown-up make-up yesterday. I usually buy a cheapy compact but it was drying my skin out so I went for proper foundation and some eyeshadow. Spent over £25 so got a free make-up bag of goodies :j Just need to learn how to wear make-up now - it always feels like it's wearing me IYSWIM  :D

We're going to a wedding today, not keen cos I think we were invited to make up the numbers, most people were invited ages ago and we were invited two weeks ago. We don't know the bride and groom very well, we know the bride's parents. We hadn't seen them for ages, mr tru has seen them a few times lately and they gave him an invitation.

I know, I KNOW, I sound really ungrateful :o I'll sound ungrateful again tomorrow - I have to go for a meal at mr tru's friend's house and I'm dreading it

AND I've just seen Bitsy's calendar. I want one :D

Well, that wasn't OS at all :o Sorry bout that :D

    Good morning all.

Only me up so far so I'm enjoying the silence. Dogs fed, cats food topped up, WM on, DW emptied, kitchen wiped round and I'm going to have half an hour online now :D

Planning a sewing day today. I have another 2 pairs of jeans to repair, a pair of school trousers that have split down the crotch (not for the reason DS2 wishes ;)) but due to the fact that DS2 wears his pants, like so many others, halfway down his bum. I spend my life telling him to pull them up :rotfl: I also want to carry on with my cross stitch & get DH's John Wayne picture finished. It's a labour of love as I don't like John Wayne.

Lunch is scrambled eggs on toast & dinner this evening is the meatballs that didn't get eaten yesterday as we got 2 huge pizzas reduced to 99p each when we nipped into the Co-op for milk :money:

Bitsy Post a pic pleeeeeeeeeeease if you can & well done to your DH and you for cooking all the non fattening food flipcake.gif

Diva Can I come for tea? It sounds lovely.

    Hester :j:j:j

Have a good day & keep warm & dry :D

    Good morning guys,

I wonder if there were any takers??:rotfl::rotfl:

    CheapSnowmen.jpg

Today I want to strip the beds, do the ironing, wash down the bathroom, and the kids will be helping to sort out their toys and making room for the xmas lot that's on the way. There's more chipped paintwork on the stairs so I will take care of that too. Yesterday's washing is on and my second coffee is starting to hit the spot. :D

Lunch will be left over curry and tea will be a spanish omlette as I still have quite a few eggs left. I have some fresh pineapple that needs using up so I will make a pineapple upside down pudding with custard for afters.

Not a lot else going on today. No plans to go out - have you seen the forecast?:eek: Lo is feeling miles better but the 3 of them are sneezing and coughing - not ill though.

Gentle hugs to all who need one today and wrap up well if you are in the path of the next lot of rain. xx

    Smoky. xxx
