they said i could have a replacement , so they then checked and realised they had none in stock anywhere and offered me a full refund which i took !!!!!

See...easily done. You bought from John Lewis, not PC World or Comet.

Now buy a decent laptop, not that cheap rubbish. :D

If you say so, but there are talkers and there are do-ers. I make reasonable demands and get a suitable result. Four weeks would not be an option for me.

It's good that there are people like you around. They can put your job back and get mine done immediately. ;)

Just because i state the rights of posters, does not make me soft. If anything it makes the law "soft".

I have fought long and hard for a £1000 laptop replcement well above the spec of my old laptop on the basis of 0.3 megapixels on the webcam, it cost them £400 for this and alot of hassle so i am not soft, far from it, i know my rights and im not afraid to demand far more than the law. But when it comes to repairs, you can push and push but at the end of the day its done when its done and theres nothing else you can do about, AS I STATED THE LAW states that repairs merely be done in a reasonable time. Get the picture yet?

This is all besides the point anyways, good result OP.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

The law...blah, blah, blah. Good retailers show goodwill. I already had the picture. I knew the likely outcome.

Depends on your budget. if under £300, consider an Argos Return. They have a 12 month warranty and you can get a decent laptop.

For instance, this Toshiba Satellite L300-2CW for £294.

    Specs here.

I think thats unwise tbh. Almost seems as if your trying to prove a point rather than getting the repair you need as quickly as possible. cut JL out and claim your warranty repair from the manufacturer. Otherwise your just making it difficult for yourself:confused:

Hmmmm..... good thing that they didn't listen to you, eh?
