i am not objecting to a repair as long as its done before christmas as my son uses it for his course work at school.

I would have thought so, it takes a couple of hours to test diagnose and replace a hard drive, if that. Of Course there are other factors such as back log of work at the repair centre. The law merely states that repairs be carried out in a "reasonable" time, which i would even be thinking about until your getting near to 4 weeks. Even then 4 weeks is in now way set in stone and the law could permit even more.

EDIT: Saw your newer post, in regards to SOGA, yes its the retailer but whilst you have a MANUFACTURERS warranty, its far easier and much less hassle to just go to the manufacturer direct. Even under SOGA the retailer will just send it off to the manufacturer anyways. I see all this as being very fair and reasonable IMHO so just wait for problems to occur(if indeed they do) and then begin to worry, in the mean time, don't sweat about it.

Replacing a drive and reinstalling is a one day job in theory. So the sooner you get it collected, the sooner you will have it back. It is the retailer's responsibility, but since JL obviously don't repair them themelves , it's quicker for you to deal with the manufacturer direct.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • gonna go to john lewis store rather than ring them and see what they can do for me, better than being fobbed off by phone lol

Hmmmm...you lot are too soft. :) I would be insisting on a specific time frame. If they can't guarantee that I have it back within, say a couple of weeks, I would be insisting on a refund or immediate replacement.

Even though you have no legal stance to do so? Its worth a try, even i try it but it isn't going to happen is it?

I think thats unwise tbh. Almost seems as if your trying to prove a point rather than getting the repair you need as quickly as possible. cut JL out and claim your warranty repair from the manufacturer. Otherwise your just making it difficult for yourself:confused:

Its not soft at all, if they give you any form of guarantee, its most likely coincidence if it arrives on time. You think they draft in extra workers just because you demanded a repair in 2 weeks even though they have no legal obligation in this time? Like I said, I still try but at the end of they day, its done when its done, there are people in the same situation waiting for their repair too.....

If you say so, but there are talkers and there are do-ers. I make reasonable demands and get a suitable result. Four weeks would not be an option for me.

It's good that there are people like you around. They can put your job back and get mine done immediately. ;)
  • they said i could have a replacement , so they then checked and realised they had none in stock anywhere and offered me a full refund which i took !!!!!
