Not sure - have you tried putting your figures into the HMRC tax credit page - just google it - they will give you apportioned figures from now to end of the year , but should give you an idea of what to expect.

  • I'm not sure of the exact figures, but you should get the disability element plus the severe disability element. Glad you got the DLA

disability elemetn is £2670, plus you will be entitled to the severe diability element which is £1,075. That gets added on to your total entitlement then reduced for income in the normal way. Ours went up by about £150 a month irrc.

Are you applying for carers allowance too?

Also, if you claim housing benefit, make sure you notify them. They will reduce for the extra tax credits, but there is also a disability element for HB so you can end up better off there too.
  • put in my renewel for my dd in, JULY!!!!... yeah! long time waiting, her claim ended in october, have rang them numerous times, firstly they waited weeks & weeks for the hospital to send forms back, then doc, then it went to decision maker, then to medical services, then back to decision maker, rang again today & been told its gone to the team leader, im getting really worried about it because she has been very ill with brain ops etc, over the last 16 months, & was on medium dla no mobility, Im feeling as if though they are going to turn down her claim altogether.... well done meltdown point on your claim
  • Ok rang DLA people today and asked why my child did not get any of the mobility components....young lady was lovely..i told her i didnt want to rock the boat but....she read my childs reports, commented that there was a lot of evidence and then commented that there was a massive amount of evidence saying that my child needed help with not only care but mobility and she was highlighting every piece and sending it back again to the decision maker for another look at.....I told her again that I wasnt lying and that I would get various peadiatritions to back it up, she said no need its all here in front of us, expect a decision in 3 weeks!!!

It usually takes at least 12 weeks to reach a decision.

When I rang on the 14th, the lady I spoke to kept on saying that there was a load of information received from me....(I sent everything...education plan, peaditritions report, OT report, School Report, print out of all prescriptions my child had for the past 5 years...)

    Pead report.....Said massive mobility needs
OT report......Said wheelchair needed, fine motor skills affected
School report .....Said unable to walk to dinner hall and at times to the playground, toileting issues and unable to partake in PE
Psychology report.....said a happy go lucky child who copes well with everything life has thrown in their direction, amazing coping abilities.
    Dr report.....Said......access to wheelchair....24hr care needed....toileting issues....feeding issues......emotional support needed...
Consultants report.....said needs more care than any other child of the age group....needs more care than any known child of the same condition as mobility is an issue!!
Prescription lists were 11 A4 pages long!!!

Its such a palava to get and go for.......but worth it....lady said cases can take up to 6 months for a child(but it would be backdated) but our decision was made so quickly because I had sent in so much info......I said so why no mobility...she said im highlighting this as we speak to be sent back to the decision maker.....expect a decision in 3 weeks:)

    Wow long post sorry:o
