  • Supanet are totally useless I'm afraid. I'm been with them for a month and quickly gave up calling tech support once I realised what great con artists they were: outsourced call centres to useless tech support, crippling traffic throttling (try downloading during peak hours and I'd give you my flat for free if you get anywhere near 25% of their advertised 8MB/s dl speed..) and sneaky entries in the T&C that permit them to charge you £39.99 if you leave within 25 months (even though it's a 12 month contract) and allow them to chage you £30 for the return of their usb modems...
    stay away.

these guys p*ss me off no end - i'll show them what "throttling" means...

  • I have just move home, contacted Supanet to give them my new address. They stopped my 12 month contract ( broadband & telephone), Create a new 12 month contract broadband only, why ?) When I contacted them, they got very impolite and did not try to solve the matter. Contacted the bill department, I managed to have this new contract stopped. Now they want me to pay setup fees, fees for an old contract, fees for a new one and of course what is spend monthly
Aren't consumers protected in England against unfair practice/contract, like they are on the continent by the national & european laws. Can't the BBC watchdog look at this.

    Advice are very welcome.

Well when you move address the broadband has its setup costs at the new address. Usually if you retain the service at the new property, the setup costs is absorbed across the 12 month contract. Most providers do actually start new contracts on change of address for the above reason.

Whilst consumers do have their protection, consumers need to protect themselves by ensuring they read the terms & conditions of the service.
