In a word NO, not at the moment.
You need a satellite dish & either a Sky HD+ box or a Freesat HD receiver. As far as I'm aware there aren't any Freeview HD boxes yet for receiving HD broadcasts via an ordinary roof aerial.

G10 has freesat built in, if there are any freesat HD channels then you should be able to view them ok, nevertheless you will still need to either put up a sky or FTA dish/receiver to obtain the most HD channels.

Wrong, The OP's G10 has a Freesat tuner built in so will receive HD channels once connected to a correctly aligned satellite dish. ( only BBC and a few ITV programmes at the moment in HD ).

Good choice of TV Waxies! As above, your TV is one of a handful that is actually 'HD' rather than just 'HD Ready' (HD Ready means plug somthing into it to get HD). It's also Full HD (1080p). If you've got a Sky dish wired up, you can plug it straight into the TV. It has a Freeview tuner and an analogue terrestrial tuner as well, just to show you how crap TV used to look!

That depends on how many HD Channels that you want to watch.

If you disconnect your Sky Receiver, plug the leads in to the correct connection/s on your TV, tune it in, you will receive HD.

( Only BBC and a few ITV Programmes at the moment ).

Just to be clear if you use the internal freesat receiver, although it uses the Sky dish you would not receive any subscription channels only the Freesat HD channels. You would have to keep swapping the feeds to get your Sky packages and still need a HD Sky Box if you wanted the full Sky HD package.
  • I've now got my telly...brilliant it is as well...as you say I swap the leads over if I want to get HD on ITV and BBC...which is a bit of a pain to be honest....

I am a 'full package' sky user and have been for years and have the Sky + box ...can someone tell me how much it cost to get the Sky HD box and installation and monthly subscriptions...was considering a phone call to try and blag one! :)

The Sky offer at the moment is a free HD box plus £30 install charge. This offer is dependent on taking the movies package for a year, which if you have them already, shouldn't be an issue.

Your only other on-going cost is the extra £10/month for the HD subscription.

So, if I understand correctly, to get the Sky+HD box ("free") would cost: £30 installation+ basic Sky package £18+movies pack £8+HD £10=£36month?=£432year.
Is it worth it? And, what happens if I cancelled the Sky contract after 12 months?
