no but you'd hope that an annual half day assessment with the Part P body would weed out some of them....

You need to think why he cannot issue a certificate? Using unliciensed Electricians could prove dangerous! But Hey! You saved a few quid! This is why I do not give out Electrical advise very often.

Don't worry mate, much better to save a few quid than get a job done properly and professionally!

  • I had an electric shower put in by a part P qualified electrician and at the same time I had my consumer unit upgraded.

I am mid house sale and because of a court case that took place in 2000 you now have to provide information and sign to it about what has been done to the house SINCE it was built! We have provided all the relevant paperwork and building regs certs for the electrics - which included the garden shed (done before we moved in but all RCD protected) but it is detailed on the electrical paperwork as being checked.

We also had to provide the solicitor's letter from the people we bought from detailing the work they had done to the property and the relevant building regs certs.

Solicitors won't miss stuff because in the court case from 2000 it was the solicitor who was sued for not checking into planning and building regs and requesting the relevant details.
