No – the electrical cable can be run above ground as long as it’s either armoured cable and fixed to say wall or ordinary cable run in plastic conduit – also fixed. Sounds like your sparks isn’t part P and is trying to fob you off....
Circuit must also be RCD protected too

Seconded, doesn't sound like he's part P to me either. Get a quote from others...;)Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0

just had this job done electric to shed and greenhouse.
It is RCD protected , armoured cable for the entire outside run.
Local isolation switches for the shed also.
And yes the cable can be run alongside the fence or under slabs etc.
amoured cable approx £1.50 p sq/m
sockets + breakers + RCD switches + labour to consider0 -

I had electrics laid to garden room in the summer. An RCD box was provided inside the house, the armoured cable was routed in a cable tray connected to the fence. Garden Room was about 5m from rear wall.
The work also included testing of the garden room electrics (small consumer unit, 6 double sockets and indoor and outdoor lights) because although these were erected with the room the erectors were not electricians so could not certify their work. The electrician also provided and installed a smoke alarm.
The total cost was £450 but I think this would be a bit more than a short connection to simple shed electrics.0 -
I paid £150 cash yesterday. He provided all materials, inc 14 metres armoured cable, took him 3-4 hours. I'm pleasedHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
