This is by Eon on their web site criteria below I have not contacted them or done any further research so can not confirm any details.
Could be worth a better look for some people though?

E.ON is offering HeatPlant free if your home is off the mains gas supply and currently uses coal-fired or electric heating.
You don’t have to be an E.ON customer to qualify, but you do need to be on benefits and live in your own home or privately rented accommodation. If you have HeatPlant installed, any necessary insulation will also be provided free of charge . Read on to find out how you can apply.
How do I apply?
To qualify for a free HeatPlant installation:
  1. Your home should be currently heated by coal or an electric system, and
  2. Your home should not be connected to mains gas, and
  3. Your home should not be a solid wall property, and
  4. At least one member of your household should be on a qualifying benefits.
Homes can also include residents not on benefits, or those not using coal or electric heating, but they may need to pay up to £14,000 for the system. If you don’t meet the above criteria, it’s still worth giving us a call as you may be eligible to receive 40% off the package price.

Details taken from their website again.

HeatPlant is our ground source heat pump that uses renewable energy. This renewable energy is taken from under your garden and converted using an electricity supply to produce affordable energy for your home that’s friendlier to the environment. It’s an efficient way of providing controllable heat and hot water, if your home is off the gas network.
Not only could it reduce your energy bills, but you could also have this installed by us for free.

Find out about HeatPlant in your area by calling 0800 404 5018 or by registering your details.

That sounds like a very good offer:beer: - but I've got gas central heating so wouldnt qualify myself whatever my income.

A step in the right direction though certainly.

similar kind of offer we had from our council for our air source heat pump system.
on one benefit then system half price on two benefits then system free.
we got a 9kw output system new rads etc that would have cost £6800 for nowt, our village is classed as a fuel poverty area as we have no mains gas so its either oil coal or leccy for heating for us.
we roughly worked out its costing us £70 a month for the ashp oil was costing us £350 - 600 a quarter
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful

It seems to me like there's not a great deal of incentive to work these days when offers like this are on the table. Maybe we should consider persuading the wife to take a sabbatical, sign on and then get this installed.
  • awwww....i cover all bases but im in a housing !!! house so i wont qualify...gutted!
