It doesn't seem right that some people's little piffly orders get cancelled and other people's really big orders get delivered, especially the ones that went through for just the postage cost, is it due to items being out of stock? I expected my order to arrive today but it looks like it won't be until tomorrow now. :(
Hi I placed an order Thur 3rd dec Total £85 after discounts £20, all book that at the time were on 3 for 2 as well as 50% of, got confirmation email with delivery date Wed9th and heard no more until this morning, then had 5 emails one after another! 1 about 1 item out of stock, 1 with new del date,1stating there had been a technical hitch and my order had been cancelled then reordered??, 1 to tell me that 4 more items were out of stock (There were 11 items in originally order)Finally new revised order showing 6 items with final cost of £5 more than 1st order which had 11??? I emailed them and got a very confusing reply, so phoned...45mins later after much explaining and being put on hold several times, they said they could not confirm discounts but would credit my account with £15 towards any future orders.Might just reorder 6 that are in stock again, use discounts, and return the delivery...If it arrives!

I am so chuffed - I placed 2 orders - 4 x beer gift sets and 1 x port & mints and then 4 x beer gift sets and 6 x festive fizzes - and all items have safely arrived. Thankyou so much for the wonderful OP for sharing this - and may all those who weren't greedy receive their orders safely also :-)

My order has been despatched. Had 14th dec as delivery date. :D
  • Congratulations to the commonsensical people who have received their orders and those who have confirmations.

Having read through a few of these posts I'm quite surprised at how aggravated and reactionary some people have become over the whole thing although I agree that some posters crowing about big orders is quite annoying.
M&S have clearly made quite a big mistake which has probably cost someone their job and now it seems as though now it's a bit of a lottery as to how many of us will receive orders, and how much of it will come through, if at all.

I placed my order at about 2am and will be grateful if anything arrives at all!

Regarding those who ordered more than was necessary for themselves then either then one of three things will happen:
    1. They will be given away to good causes (which some are claiming- but I doubt the validity of some claims... especially when folk are talking about using "30 [of their] items" at school fares; I think alcohol prizes in raffles in schools seems a bit irresponsible and unlikely. I notice some of the initial posts are gloating in nature before backtracking to claim about giving it all away!)

    2. They will be kept for and consumed by themselves, in which case they're in for a calorific, booze fuelled and potentially horrible festive period; or it will lie around the house for weeks, months or years.

So hopefully many of you good willing people out there will receive your reasonable orders which might ease finances and provide some cheer for the family and/or take some pressure off financing stocking fillers.

However if you're one of the unlucky ones try not to fret about it too much because it's just a bit of booze and it's not worth relying on it to solve anything, financial or otherwise!
    Regards

    Mark
