My daughter told me 2 weeks ago she wanted a go go hamster - I think she only wants one because they are the top seller and a bit difficult to get hold of. I've been on a mission to get one for her checking Argos and reading this thread. I've only just picked up on the stock checker. I've read posts about stock at Smyths but I don't live near a Smyths, I've also seen posts about somewhere called TRU getting stock, I'd never heard of TRU so assumed that there wasn't one near me. I got a num nums from ebay for £12.17 including postage and as I didn't have to go to shop after shop to get one I was happy. DD is 14 now but there was something else she wanted and I suddenly remembered a big toy shop called Toys are Us, went there monday and and they had the new hammies so picked up a winkie as she can't wink. Num nums was only posted monday so I'd bought winkie to make sure she got a hammie.

In the kitchen monday night the penny finally dropped, TRU is Toys R Us. I'm such a wally and had to laugh at myself.

Hi everyone i would just like to join in and say big THANK-YOU to everyone who has helped me and others in the great hamster hunt lol, i want to see how the hamsters go down with the kids first before i purchase the new ones(dont think there available in the scottish argos stores yet anyway)

Well, thanks to the great people on here I now have both Spanish sets, and a Mr Squiggles and Num Nums.

This means that I officially have a spare house, if anyone needs one, I'm near Leicester/Coventry. PM me, but I'll be taking it back to Argos straight after Christmas.

I have no involvement with the sites that have been running this year, but to check stock every 60 seconds, as has been the case, and then alert you of stock has been more than sufficient for more than 99% of people. So well done to those concerned (oh yes I know you have had a kick back from affilate programs, but hey that is well earned).

Thanks Stebiz. I have written and run my stock checkers for a few years now and tend to agree with your comments. Also not to mention the fact that if it was technically possible to check 600 Argos stores every couple of seconds, I'm sure the Argos web team would be on your case quite quickly as I don't think they would like it much!

Hi guys, many many thanks for everyone's help, especially around page 300-400 onwards on the orginaly thread, don't think I've ever felt such excitment, frustration, desperation, elation over any toy (even when I was little) I will fondly remember those days of F5ing on character, TRU etc, the days sat just waiting and waiting, farmergiles - you made me laugh a lot during those dark times! Can't wait to see kiddies faces on xmas day, just hope they really like them, hope Vicky got her set - I was dreaming about Vicky and the spanish set for days!
