I sell books etc on Amazon and a few weeks ago I got a message that said anyone wanting to sell toys in the Christmas run up had to be approved as a seller first and have sold other items. I don't remember the exact details but it looked like they didn't want any hit and run merchants on there creating bad PR.

Yeah, I found something similar on the site about the most popular items could only be sold by proper sellers so I guess your everyday ebay person isnt on Amazon.

just off the hamster topic for a sec, i ordered 2 books and sum earphones for my hubby for xmas they came 2day and when i checked the box the books were fine and when it came to the earphones which were in quite a big box which i thought was strange. I opened the box and there were 6 lots of earphones in there obviously whoever packed the order didn't realise they had 2 take 1 out oooops. Tryin 2 find the number now so i can ring and let them have them back or i could keep them, put them on ebay and use the money 4 hamsters lol.

The customer service award of the day must go to the John Lewis collections department in Newcastle upon Tyne.

I needed to go and pick up some pretty large parcels and as I wrote off my car yesterday, I was wondering how on earth I would manage on the bus. So I thought ok, can't really afford it, but will have to get a taxi there, ask him to wait whilst I get my parcels, then get the taxi back home.

When I arrived there was a big queue which went down quite quickly as there were 3 members of staff manning the collections desk. When it came to me, they seemed to take a while to find one order, but when they came back with that, they said they couldn't find the second one. He was then going to have a check around again when I mentioned that I had had to come in a taxi and every minute I was standing there, was costing me money. One of the members of staff (may be the boss?) said no problem that they would pay for whatever the taxi had on the meter... Once they had located the parcel, he went outside, checked the meter, which was just over £9 then rushed back inside and came back with a tenner!!!!!

What a fantastic surprise and fabulous customer service :T:T:T

Thats fantastic!! I was in there last week to pick up something hamster related and they were super efficiant compared to the Waitrose store in Hexham where I stood almost 30 minutes waiting to pick up a order AND I was the only customer :p

Where abouts are the toys kept in JL? (I dont think I will get a bed or carrier) as I never usually venture to Newcastle and that was the first time I have driven there - I only go as far as Ikea lol

Regarding selling on Amazon, if you've never sold on Amazon before I wouldn't bother trying to get approved to sell your spare hamster's as they are likely to say no. If however you have sold before and have positive feedback you just need to email them and they will look at your past sales and approve you x
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

The toy department is really small and they told me that any go go stock was going straight to the website this side of Xmas and not into store, but of course they will no doubt get stuff in again after xmas. If you are walking up Eldon Square from Northumberland Street go all the way up to the top where the start of the Eldon garden section is and go up the elevator there and you'll see an entrance to JL on the right. Go past the sports equipment and when you hit the kids clothes, turn right and go up that aisle and you'll see the small toy department (next to the loos).

I've just had an email from Amazon cancelling my preorder for hamster babies. I wasn't expecting the delivery until the new year anyway but now they say their supplier (Character) has informed them that they have been discontinued. They had listed the 2010 hamsters for preorder the same day although I didn't order any of these. Anyone else know more?

I asked Character for an order list when I noticed that Amazon had listed a couple of weeks ago.

Their advice to me was that Amazon may have jumped the gun based upon the Amazon.com list, but Character Online as the UK distributor needed to finalise their own list first
