Anyone looking for beds, i have seen 2 cute ones on pets at home website. I know they aren't proper Go Go ones but they look cute. Search for Hamster bed. Snowman one and the mini snuggles pouch look good.0 -

Theres antimony in the plastics from bottled water, in batteries, on matches, its in fire retardent mattereiess (as the other poster said, it can be cot matteress, it is also in medication that they give you for gastroenteritis!!
Its good to be concerned for your baby but if you really, really researched everying in your household and what compounds they contain you will go stark raving mad.!!
Im a geologist so know all about the metalloids and such, just don't ask me anything to do with soil!!! The things your kids touch when playing outside ( you would wrap them up in cotton wool and keep them indoors!!).0 -
I'm just looking at the goodguide.com website and they rated a box of lego as unsafe too, with a zero health rating due to high levels of PVC Chlorine

Other toys they've rated low are
my little pony tool roola http://www.goodguide.com/products/279675-my-little-pony-toola-roola?category_id=211748-baby-toddler-toys
disney just one kiss princess

fisher price little mommy baby ah choo

Also a statement from them explaining what test they used(with hamster written as hampster, lol)

We have been overwhelmed by the media response to our testing of toys this year, and in particular to the results of our tests of the Zhu Zhu Pet Mr. Squiggles Toy Hampster.
We would like to clarify our testing methodology and results since there has been some confusion about our research.
As we explained in our original press release, we tested the Zhu Zhu pet using a NITON XL3t series X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer.
XRF technology is a method for determining levels of elements found on the surface of a toy. This is a non-destructive testing method that measures the “total” contaminants present on the surface of the toy.
We did not test these toys using the new government standard for toy companies to determine the “soluble” level of contaminants in a toy.
The federal standard for antimony is 60 parts per million soluble. We found antimony between 93-106 parts per million total on the surface of the toy.
While GoodGuide considers the presence of any antimony on the surface of a toy to be a concern, we want to clarify that we used a testing methodology to evaluate the toys that is different from the testing methodology incorporated into the federal standards.0 -
if I put it here they'll be bombarded with calls though0

As many of us have said- if the product is recalled then we will return the hamsters willingly. None of us would take a risk with our kids. What we are saying is that we will wait until more evidence is available before jumping on the panic bandwagon. As also mentioned by multiple people- we are surrounded by potentially dangerous toxins and yet we still carry on in this world in the hope that we will be ok. I think we should wait to see what the next few days brings before panickingxxx

I know that the makers are saying it is safe but after the british watchdogs have had them tested I'm afraid I do NOT want to take the chance, my little ones safety is paramount, and if I can avoid him getting sick, then I certainly will! I could never give him a toy knowing that there is even a slight chance it could make him ill! Sorry just my view.
"Parents have every right to be concerned about the safety of this sell-out toy. Any level of chemical contamination of products intended for children is a serious issue. Antimony can be fatal in high doses and make kids sick even in low amounts if inhaled or ingested."
Your panicking way too much, the amounts are over the reccomended leverl but even so the amounts are only 2% of the level needed to cause any real issues and even then it wouldl't be anything as serious as cancer as there is NO evidence that this chemical causes cancer, only it might.
It might or it could - is not good enough for me.
I might get run over when i go to the shop - isnt gonna stop me going though.
I could fall down the stairs and break my next - still using those stairs.
Your child would have to eat 50 squiggles to even come close to causing them the slightest of harm, but i think actually eating 50 squiggles would do more damage than the so called toxic chemical.
Even if they do re-call the hamster (which they wont) it will only be to put parents minds at rest and to get everyone to shut up.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -
please be gentle with me !!!
