Out of the 15 hottest holiday toys rated by GoodGuide, none of them had lead and only two of them scored a perfect 10 on Health & Safety.
Pretty much rules out most kids christmas lists then. :rolleyes:0 -
"But the toy's maker, Cepia LLC, has refused to recall the product, insisting it is safe and has passed rigorous testing. Cepia's chief executive Russ Hornsby said: "We want to assure everyone already enjoying Mr Squiggles or other Zhu Zhu Pets, and those planning to purchase Mr Squiggles or another Zhu Zhu Pet this holiday season, that the toy is 100% safe and in compliance with all US and European toy safety standards.
"I have been in the toy industry for more than 35 years, and being a father of children myself, I would never allow any sub-standard or unsafe product to hit the shelves."
Now... they wouldn't refuse to recall unless they're 100% safe because if they're not, it could seriously bite them in the backside in the future.
It's all IF's and COULD's.
People say living under power lines COULD lead to cancer... have you moved house because of that? No.
And I also didn't like Mr Squiggles either, don't know why. I've kept Num Nums.Sealed Pot Saving No. 799 - Currently £105

This toxic issue going a bit OTT don't you think? "It could lead to cancer and other health problems!"
So could, drinking, smoking, poor diet - infact it would seem living on this earth could lead to that - don't see big queues at the hospital to be put back in mother's womb though to we?:rotfl:
Christ they recall anything these days even flippin plates you eat your dinner from! Next time your in Argos and got a 10 minute wait have a look at all their recalled stock - you'd be amazed!:D0 -
Beds where? damn only left to get ready!!!!!!! should have had a PJ day!!!! lol0

I agree with those of you who see it as a bit ott. Parents are allowed to smoke in front of kids which is surely a much higher cancer risk. The governement hasn't "recalled" all smoking parents have they?
If they are recalled then fair enough but until then Mr squiggles is mine! lol xxxPlease remember to thank fellow MSE'rs :beer:0 -
I have been after one of the hamsters for my little one but I'm afraid after this story has broken about the "arsenic-like antimony" being "way above permitted levels" I am so glad I didn't waste my money! I know that the makers are saying it is safe but after the british watchdogs have had them tested I'm afraid I do NOT want to take the chance, my little ones safety is paramount, and if I can avoid him getting sick, then I certainly will! I could never give him a toy knowing that there is even a slight chance it could make him ill! Sorry just my view.
"Parents have every right to be concerned about the safety of this sell-out toy. Any level of chemical contamination of products intended for children is a serious issue. Antimony can be fatal in high doses and make kids sick even in low amounts if inhaled or ingested.":eek:0
