  • "The chemical in question, antimony, was measured at 93 parts per million in the 'fur' and at 106 parts per million in the nose of one of the hamsters, named Mr Squiggles, he said."

Wouldn't that mean they all had it?

  • "Prof O'Rourke, whose group carried out the research, said: 'The biggest danger is from a toddler or young child putting the toy in their mouth. If too much of the chemical is ingested it could lead to cancer or other health problems.'"

4 Year olds shouldn't do that...

A massive list of recalled toys from the USA even though they have tightened things up.

Im not being nasty but just careful and will be taking my hamsters back. My childrens health are worth more than a over hyped christmas toy.

I just thing its scaremongering over the Hamsters - your child could go to school and catch swine flu (which can kill) but will people stop their children going to school? No - but they are considering taking a hamster back. Just think the whole thing needs putting into perspective. No need to worry until they recall - then of course I will take Mr Squiggles back

Things is, our kids come into contact with things that could kill them every day and we don't worry.

I believe they tested it all but Mr Squiggle's fur came up with the warning. And yeah usually things are tested before coming into the UK

    Exactly!
this toxic thing is a bit of a worry, anyone else worried??
    Beds in stock JL

Not in the slightest, safety tests are extremly high, american laws/ regulations are seriouly tough.

As i said yesterday they use the chemical to treat people with parasites, its present in a lot of everyday things including paint. And it is mainly used as a fire retardant and is found as the main fire - retardant in childrens crib mattresses.

ANOTHER SCARE STORY BLOWN ALL OUT OF PROPORTION BY THE MEDIA.

Funnily enough i never liked squiggles anyway and he was the 1st one i got rid of when i ha him.

I agree - theres danger everywhere. Antimony is similar to lead and is found in batteries anyway. Anyone who has pewter already has it in there house anyway. The levels are not high enough to kill you or harm you - and even if the kids ate their hamster (the go go ones of course), which I seriously can't see us parents sitting back and letting them do, then even that amount wouldn't do anything.
  • Well im gonna have to go out probably miss a ball when out but... ho hum.... there is other days hopefully. Seeyas soon.

Don't let them sit in front of the pc or TV - high levels of radiation:rolleyes:
