Hi Folks!

I went online yesterday to check my bank balance for the first time in a few months....naughty I know!!

However when I got there I noticed my account had gone from 3064.20 to 1732.22 with only a purchase of 164.98...meaning £1167 has mysteriously disappeared!!!!

I phoned Abbey and the Customer Service rep said she'd look into but with no urgency.....I got another phonecall later in the day saying that their IT dept was looking into it.

I checked online first thing this morning and luckily the "borrowed" amount was returned to me....still not apologetic phonecall from Abbey!

Anyway....I'm going to charge Abbey for "borrowing" on a short term loan from me.....how much should I charge them!? ;):rotfl: Afterall if I had gone overdrawn by the same amount I would be in all types of strife with them!

So what do we reckon is fair!!!

    First charge them £30 for a unauthorised overdraft.
    Then 3% for every month they owed you the money, I think that's about correct. :D

    lol I was thinking of charging them on the basis of a payday loan...daily charge for unauthorised use of my funds, plus phonecalls made and recieved, plus the sheer unadulterated worried sleepless night!!!

    Abbey customer service solving a problem in less than 24 hours?? (Faints in surprise....)

    Where WAS the money? Was there an erroneous transaction? When was it? Or had the money never actually gone but there was a problem with displaying your account?

    Asking for compensation rather than 'charging' them may produce a more positive response - you can still base your request on the same basis.

    If this was a card transaction, it may be the company transposed two figures or added a zero when requesting the funds, then realised the problem and asked for only what you authorised.

    A bit more information would help to decide if that was the case or if Abbey are so hard up, they have to 'borrow' money from their customers. Or, indeed, if this is the usual level of service from Abbey.

    Isn't it £1,167.00 missing ....

    3,064.20 - 164.98 = 2,899.22

    Balance = £1,732.22

    Difference = £1,167.00

    Pre-dating a cheque without adding interest? Wouldn't surprise me if they had done that.

    Yes I think I double took off the 164.98...regardless they still took my money!!!!!

    And it's still not sorted, today it's gone back to being £1167 missing...AND they have the cheek to say that if its not rectified by the 10th Dec to call them back!!!!!!!
