You mean that MAC OS X doesn't have a basic image editing package built in?

Seems that with Mac OS X you just highlight the graphic with your mouse, then right-click (or CONTROL-click) and select "Copy Image Address" from the drop-down menu to put it on your clipboard. Then go to insertimage.gif (Yo! ) in the menu bar of the MSE reply window, click on that, use COMMAND-V to insert the stored URL into the box and click OK.

Amazingly, that works in Windows as well - Copy copies the image itself, and Copy Shortcut copies the shortcut

As you're so fond of replying to Windows queries by telling people to get a Mac, it's time for a tiny bit of revenge ;)

There is free software available from Microsoft to do this. Their PowerToys suite contains one part called Image Resizer.

With the superior graphic abilities of the Mac, I'm sure it's only a matter of time, but unfortunately my grannies are no longer here for lessons on oological matters

    edit: that's 3 times I've been beaten in a cross-post race

No: I mean that I don't know whether there's a way in the MSE editor to reduce (or increase) the size of the thing when simply inserting the link to an image elsewhere on the Internet. :o

In the meantime, as an emergency measure, I've replaced my original image with your one, so that everyone can now again reach the quote.gif button without having to scroll half a metre sideways. :D

Bear with me :A espresso :A , I'm not as great a genius as you are. :embarasse

And remember, "Pls be nice to all MoneySavers. There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps." (And even if you and I know how to punctuate that properly. )

    Yup! :o

But at least I admit it when I do drop the box. :)

(And I did find a way to clean up the mess it made. :p )

That's what comes of being so out of practice at finding the SHIFT and punctuation keys when you write. :p

It's worth getting a modern Mac keyboard to use with your mini: it's got the @ and the " symbols in the right place and it has the additional keys for controlling functions of the Mac.
I presume Mr. Jobs wouldn't approve of me just sticking new labels on top of the keys of a £3 USB Windows keyboard in the spirit of MSE. :rotfl:

When choosing a non-Apple USB keyboard to use with a Mac (or at least when using Mac OS X on a computer ;) ) it's best to go for an American one, because those have the @ on the 2 key and the " on the ' key – which is where Apple (but not Megashit) puts them for both regions.

My MSI Wind netbook was an American import. Under Windows XP, "British English" put those two keys in the wrong place. But when I Mac-hacked it, they were then in the right place for the keyboard. Which is nice.

I'll probably start out by using my labeller then if I decide I like the Mac way of life splash out on a proper "shiny" one. I haven't checked prices but with the new "shiny" mouse costing £60 I'll maybe have to arrange a second mortgage first.
