New laptop OS question

Right chaps ordered Windows 7...which cost me nothing by the way! not even any P&p fee!:T
Anyway Win 7 CD is due in the next few days. Some questions for a techie please before i update:
1. DO i still need to burn the Toshiba/Vista recovery DVDs?
2. Current HD is 160Gb but noticed it is partioned. C: drive is for main use and E: drive has the Toshiba recovery files, except this is 60GB with only 5GB used. Is it worthwhile just keeping one hardrive only? if so how?
If not, how can i reduce E: drive space and increase C:\ capacity?
3. When i install Vista will i lose current DVD burning software on pc?
thanks0 -

You can burn them if you ever intend to return the machine to it's original state. I would advise you to create the Recovery Discs.
If you create the Recovery Discs and you decide that you want a single drive letter or want to increase the size of the C: partition, you will need to use some partitioning software. You won't need the Recovery Partition since you've created the discs, so you can remove it if you wish. Someone will come along and recommend their favourite.
If you have ordered the Windows 7 disc via Toshiba, they will also supply you with new drivers and software on another CD.0 -

If afterwards theres an simple way i can remove the disc partion that will be a help...i cant understand why they allocate so much space to the recovery partion.0
