PC Decrapifier looks interesting, is it reputable software that can be used? just never hear of or seen it mentioned on this forum.
I've not heard of it but given the name I'd be very wary of running it on a Vista PC in case it just wiped the hard drive. ;)

If you do decide to use it, make sure you go to the correct download location.

No problem with uninstalling each program manually though.

Don't forget to run the McAfee Removal Tool after removing the McAfee program.

With Vista you generally have to 'allow' programs to execute. Don't know about problems with downloading and saving.

In IE8, Tools, Options, Security tab, Internet icon, Custom level button, Scroll down until you find the option for Downloads. Ensure the choice labeled "Disable" is unmarked/unticked.

tried that and tested downloading a file to C:\ drive - but says i dont have user permssions and asking if i wish to save to \users\family instead...i clicked no hoping it would allow me to save to c:\ but still does not work..hmm?

strange as only 1 user on pc and this user has administrator option set. Is vista User account control responsible for this?

"Is vista User account control responsible for this?"

    ^More than likely.
