    It is much simpler with the proper software, but it's an adventure without.., don't stress, enjoy, you are learning stuff hopefully? And the backup is always a good thing to do, your HD could go bang at any time. (I recommend Norton Ghost for backups BTW, £30 at your local retail emporium (excluding Trafford centre), and you could also use it to work around this little problem).

    Acronis Trueimage 9 is a similar product and a bit cheaper.

    I live in my own little world (I'm having my own PC frustrations at the moment, so just trying to finish something off before bed).


    PS.. another alternative to all these hassles is to buy a new, much bigger drive (around £20-30), and use the manufacturers free software to move the data from the old one to the new one.
