Hello!
Have two partitioned dricves-c and d drive and a very old PC. Thing is its partitioned which means that the c drive is almost full (have less than 200 MB of space) and my d drive has well over 50% space. I have moved what i can to the d drive but ultimately what is needed is un-partitioning.
Can i do this for free or inexpensively and what is it i need to do?
Thanks alot
Regards

Search for Ranish Partion Manager on Google:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

If Windows 98 you can do it via Fdisk, but you gotta be real careful as suggested ranish http://www.ranish.com/part/0

Ive had a quick look and have downloaded partition resizer but it all seems really complicated. Hopefully I'll manage...
ok, i know i wont be able to do this-its way too complicated!Respond to every call that excites your spirit.0 -
Are you able to backup any important data to CD, always a good idea to backup before you start repartitioning.
Don't use fdisk unless you want to install the operating system from scratch, it will wipe your data. You need to use one of the tools mentioned or partition magic to repartition and keep your data intact.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Yes, the tools mentioned above are quite techie. Agree with Albertross, I'd also recommend Partition Magic for a newbie. Easy peasy with a nice graphical interface. Look for PM version 8 on ebay.0

Mmmm PM 8 I have it I love it, Merge, Split, Resize and its just so easy to use as Chippy Minton says, it has a lovely interface to use with pretty colours even I managed to use it

Thanks for all your replies.
I did a search for partition magic and apparantly i cant use it as i have windows xp-is this right?
Checked ebay too-going very reasonably. Too reasonably-between £5 and £50...hmmm.
Think Partition magic would have been perfect-downloaded a trial version and its great. (but i had to buy it in order to implement the changes)Respond to every call that excites your spirit.0 -
No PM can resize just about everything..
You could try this, or there are some Linux alternatives which are free and similar to PM..

(I haven't used this, so suggest you backup, just in case..)..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks once again.
I'll try this and see how i can get on.
Its just having to burn stuff to cd's...not really done this before but i'll give it a go. N ot gonna go to bed for a couple of hours, so may as well try and sort it out.
Will I have to install a burning program?Respond to every call that excites your spirit.0
