Rics who say that rents may start to rise.
Or this is money, who say rents have risen.
You can't use both and highlight the bits you want from each one, surely!?
!
You really can't read, can you?
Did you miss this bit, where I acknowledged the thisismoney report was from last year, and rents fell after that?First time I've found info on London rents..... It's from early last year, and fair enough rents fell early this year
Or did you just ignore it, hoping the bears would thank you anyway...“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

But wait... Whats that you say? A drop off in supply? That can't be right, because the house for sale market is not showing a big rise in stock levels.... In fact it's at it's lowest level in years, down 40% from peak.
So if the houses for rent are decreasing, and the houses for sale are decreasing, where have all the houses gone?
It couldn't be that population is increasing so available stocks of both rented and sold houses are shrinking, could it? Because if that was the case then that nasty man HAMISH_MCTAVISH would be right and we couldn't possibly admit that was ever the case.
Must be the magic pixie dust then.....
That's right. Hard working pre-mortgaged families are at this very moment being cloned in the Nu-lab labs. The adult population is rising exponentially, and has been since 2007. Brown approves!
:rotfl:
Hamish - some time ago and albeit briefly, I worked for RICS. Surveyors have no fricking clue what is going to happen to rents. And neither does their regulatory body.0 -
Speaking with a mate this evening, he's stuck across country until tomorrow.... he's staying with somebody who is sharing a room with 2 other people they work with. So that's 3 individuals, not related, sharing a room.
And they all work - and I know the one he's visiting graduated about 4 years ago and is doing bar work.
Having said that ... they aren't British/English ... or even EUs.0 -

And yet interestingly, here we are a year on and they called it exactly right.
Rents have risen all year.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Give hamish a break. There are no posts on HPC.co.uk to post about today0 -
I just looked up the latest stats from Nov 2010. In my county there is one list/one council. This shows stock figures are:
Local Authority: 10,563
Housing Assoc: 17,895
Other public sector: 729
Private landlords: 224,320
29,187 -v- 224,320
So only 11.5% in my whole county are Councils/HAs.

I don't understand your figures, PN, how many owner occupiers? Because that will depress further the percentage of social housing tenants if the remaining group (property owners) are included.0

The number of people, per area, that are on waiting lists, from 1997-2010 is here: http://www.communities.gov.uk/documents/housing/xls/1783262.xls
There wer 1600 where I live in 1997, now there are 5800, which is about a 360% increase.0 -

That's the list of rentals and who owns them....0
