Hi Dizzyduck.I was in a local cafe the other day and heard the manager telling one of her staff that it costs her £1.40 to get 100x £1 coins from the bank.
I asked if she wanted my change, I had by then still £265. She was delighted and hubby and me got a free hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows each....
plus the notes for the change given of course!
Worth a try?

My sealed pot will never get any pound coins in it, or only rarely because I take them to the chippy with me. They are usually my tips from the pub. Most of the other staff change theirs into notes, but I prefer to keep mine as change.
When I do empty the pot, I'll just take it to the pub and they'll change it. Especially near Christmas as it saves them sorting out a massive change order.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

£2.20 in the pots from DH last night and another 21p from me this morning.
Did a guesstimate of what the 20p tin and £2 tin may already have in and was verywhich is a great incentive to keep chucking in the change!

:cheesy: Another £3 in my tin last night
Also i have come up with an ingenious plan to avoid the 16 consecutive days of trips to the bank to pay in all my coins at the end of the challenge.
I put all my £2, £1 and 50p coins into my sealed pot but have seperate pots for my 20p, 10p 5p and copper coins then when they feel heavy i count up and bag the coins and pay them into the bank putting the same amount in notes and coins into my sealed pot. It limits the change bagging and bag number at the endSealed Pot 7 (No. 296 )
