  • Hello

Before I found this thread I had my own version of the Sealed Pot - I had a tin can bank which could only be opened using a tin opener and I would only put in £2 or £1. I had to open it early and when I went to the bank thet were very sniffy as I had 14 bags of coins only they only take six at a time! I don't think my new pot will be open for ages but what do you do when exchanging the coins? I have seen the Coinmaster at Asda's but don't want to give a percentage?

    Thanks

    Hi DD,
If you have an HSBC account, some of the larger branches have the same type of machines, but you don't pay to put it in, and the money goes straight into your account. HTH. Also some people go into local shops and bars to see if they need change

yup, despite it being the Yule season, (and hence having to spend money), I'm still finding £1 coins for my little pot.

Feel guilty if I don't put the £1 coins in the pot. Paper boy will have to make do with silver tomorrow when he comes for the paper money.

    Its getting addictive again !!!

Another 2x£1 coins today so far...and I'll probably be putting some more in tonite as well :-)

    Hi Dizzyduck.
I was in a local cafe the other day and heard the manager telling one of her staff that it costs her £1.40 to get 100x £1 coins from the bank.
I asked if she wanted my change, I had by then still £265. She was delighted and hubby and me got a free hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows each....
plus the notes for the change given of course!
    Worth a try?
