Sue...I think the linky is broke.....am hoping my attempt works, lol.

Editted this post to answer Sue's question below - not actually added it all up yet, half is in the bank but I had a few last minute shineys to the bottle which made up a couple more bags to go on the next trip to the bank.

Thanks a lot for letting me know, scuba. I've just done it again, but no joy. Weird as they usually work perfectly. Never mind your link is here and I'm grateful for that.

Thanks scuba, so very much. No Total then?

Under those circumstances, loopychriss, you've both done absolutely fantastic! Excellent work...squirrelling too! :T:T:T You take your time to choose how to spend it, at least you have some by you for now. All best wishes for 2011 and I do so hope your husband is able to get a job. Sorry to keep you waiting so long, though I wish you'd kept yours on last night. Thank you so much anyway. :smileyhea

    Well done all.

Thanks Sue - although it's not as bad as it sounds. He took voluntary redundancy and got a year's salary redundancy payment, and can claim his work pension early from end of March next year. I don't think he's too bothered about finding another job, he's got too used to the lazy life now! At least if he takes his pension we'll have a regular income again and a lump sum 'golden handshake' which will come in very useful!

(I must add that it's only through very careful budgeting and saving and going without in the past that we are in the fortunate position of having paid off our mortgage early: that and the fact we had a 'mis-sold' endowment policy that we got compensation for, and then cashed in early. And we downsized about 12 years ago. I've always been 'thrifty' - tight, some people called it! - but I call it being careful. And it paid off. Hope this encourages other people that it's all worth it in the end).
